Friday evening

Talked to Mary Gaboury for an hour on the phone this afternoon.  She'd been trying to reach me off and on for days but couldn't get through.  She'd dial and would get a message that the phone wasn't available or something like that.  I was having problems placing calls too. Kept telling me no mobile line available.  Never can understand why that happens. I feel bad for Mary. Her sister, Teresa, suffered a heart attack but they can't operate because her health is so poor. She also has lung cancer. Her oldest son, Mike, is caring for her at his home and the doctors don't give her a lot of time.  Makes me sad to remember all the people Teresa, Mary, and I ran around with during high school days. Many have died too soon  -- Pat McConaghy, Buddy Glen, Butch Bill, the Clark boys.......  sad.  And then there's Susie Bishop.  I've got her picture on my fridge and in the office.  Miss her all the time.

Got an email from a cousin in NC (that I've never met) but we got acquainted via ancestry.com.  Our link is on the Blankenship side of the family.  My grandpa Lew Gene had an older sister, Georgia Anna who married Jake Stark.  I'd been doing research on Georgie and Jake along with their kids but was kind of at a dead end.  Was so thrilled to get these photos.  Two of their kids were twins: John Lindsay Stark and Inez.  These first three photos are of Inez. She's on the left in the car picture and ended up working as a teacher.

Below  is Inez's twin, John Lindsay Stark
And this photo shows John Benson Stark, son of John L. on his wedding day in June of 1942 in Seattle. His wife was Jean Patton Robinson.
This photo below shows John and Inez's dad, John L. Stark, (twin of Inez)
Hard to keep track, I know.  I have to study my notes over and over to remember who belongs to who.  Fascinating stuff when it's  your own family.

This next photo was in the Leader this week. I always save pictures of Port Townsend.
And last but not least, I saw some purple in my back yard and wandered out there with my camera. Sure enough, had some iris coming up. Spring is right around the corner obviously.  Whoops. Linda tells me those are crocus, not iris.  I think I knew that but forgot. Thank you Linny Lou!

Wrote a quick Town Kid blog today if you get a chance to look on that website.  www.ptleader.com
