Kitchen Table Fun

I managed to get three quilts prepped yesterday. Meaning I got the batting and backing cut and set in place so I can begin putting them together.  One is pinned and ready to be tied and the other two are laying on the couch awaiting their turn. One is crib size so it will go fast; one is lap size and one is larger but not that large.  Closer to twin size maybe, only square.  All very different in appearance and I'll post each as it is completed.

That's about all I have on my agenda today although I may spend a little time sorting through my photos again.  It's a never ending job keeping them filed in various folders so I can find them later.

Sue is coming by today to use my computer. She needs to update her resume as her boss at her part time job at the grocery cut her hours and she's struggling to make ends meet. Paul is on SS disability and with what little she makes now, I don't see how they survive.  It's not going to be the easiest thing in the world for her, that's for sure.  She doesn't have computer skills and she's 51 years old.  She also has a bad back and is plagued with headaches.  But she'll figure it out one way or another, I suppose. It's not the first time she's walked this path.  You always worry about your kids, even when they're adults.  Maybe more so then.  But.... everyone makes their own choices in life and everyone has to learn from their mistakes.  Including me.

I saw on Facebook this morning that Teresa's funeral will be March 5 at the Catholic Church. I'll drive into town for that and then again on the 21st for the CZ retirement luncheon at Hwy 20 Roadhouse.  I look forward to that every year as it's one of the few times I get to see and talk to people in town that I actually know.

Here's a pic from FB today of Teresa and her son, Danny.

I had Maddie look over my cellphone yesterday to see if she could figure out why it kept dinging day and night.  Much to my delight, she found a 'silent' setting on notifications that I had overlooked.  I thought I had scrolled to the top of the alphabetical choices you could make but up on the very top was the silent option.  Damn cell phones!

I've got two more episodes of 'The Americans' to watch and then I'll have to wait for season 4 to become available.  Jenni told me to give 'Orange is the new Black' a second chance so I'll do that. 'House of Cards' is close to having a new season, as well.  I went to various places to find out which nominated movies I could stream in but most were being rented for $15 and I won't pay that. You can go to a matinee cheaper.  I did find half a dozen that were $5 & $6, though, so I may try them out. They include Bridge of Spies with Tom Hanks, The Martian with Matt Damon, Steve Jobs, Trumbo, Spotlight, and Room. Would cost me $34 to see all six but I doubt I'll rent that many. Maybe three of them -- The Martian, Trumbo, and Room.  Movies on my "really want to see list" include The Revenant, Brooklyn, and 47 years.

Time to go do something with my hair.
