Leap Year and the Oscars

It's Monday afternoon and I just returned from a couple of hours at the casino.  Had a great breakfast special. Only $2.58 and it was delicious.  Didn't win a penny but it's not like that's any big surprise. I got a free water, a free set of dice, and a free deck of cards.  Although the cards are worthless because they put a hole through the deck, making them unshuffleable.  Didn't see even one person I knew.

Decided to get my blood drawn afterwards since I was in the neighborhood after dropping off Joyce. Came home tired and with a headache so here I sit already in my jammies and wondering if I can hold off taking a nap today. Yes, it's a wild and wacky life I lead.

Watched the Oscars and while parts of it were entertaining, a lot of it wasn't.  Chris Rock started off great but his rants were tiring towards the end of the evening. Less is better.  I always enjoy the memorial part of the program but didn't recognize 85% of the people acknowledged.  The pre-shows were absolutely nauseating and Whoopi Goldberg didn't do herself any favors with the dress and hairdo she opted for.  I know. Shame on me!

Felt sorry for Sly Stallone because he (and we) had been convinced he was winning. They really shouldn't do that.  I would have liked to have seen more of the classic old time movie stars instead of the abundance of young ones --- many who relished reminding us they had breasts!

The only movie I've seen of those being honored was ROOM. Was very happy the star won best actress. I think the boy in it looks like my grandson.  I'm going to make an effort this year to watch more foreign movies and shorts and documentary shorts. Maybe more animated movies too. Think I'm missing out on some good entertainment.

I'm going to watch some of the movies on pay-for-view on my TV. At least the $5 and $6 ones. They include Bridge of Spies, Trumbo, Spotlight, The Martian, and Steve Jobs. None of the rest of them have me considering a trip to the theater although Revenant, 45 years, The Big Short, and Brooklyn all appeal to me.

I loved Lady Gaga's performance.  Always love seeing and hearing her.  Great talent!

I also enjoyed the commercials this year.  Especially Android and Kohls.  For some reason, the sound and the movement of peoples' lips was out of snyc towards the end of the evening.  Even on another channel. Never am sure why that happens.

The CBS Sunday News Show at 7 a.m. was especially good yesterday.  They have a page on Facebook where you can read up on it.  It was Oscar related and very interesting.

Well, sitting here has made me tired so I guess I'll head to the recliner after all and see about that nap. Will be interesting to find out if my thyroid is off and contributing to the fatigue I'm dealing with every day.  Oh....and I guess I said I was 73 in a previous post and I'm not.  Not until next September, that is.  I can't keep track of my age.
