I'm thinking I might go online and see what movies that are in the running for Sunday's award show are available to stream. Might cost me $5 a piece but that's still a lot cheaper than going to the movies. There a few I want to see, and now that I think about it, there are a few from last year I never got around to seeing either. Although none of the names come to mind. So what's that tell you?
Went to the doctor yesterday and apparently my high ferritin numbers (having to do with iron in the blood or some such thing) can be high if you've got inflammation going on in your body somewhere.
High numbers can also indicate fatigue and joint pain. Normal is supposedly 10-120 and mine was 160 yesterday. She wasn't too concerned because it is coming down. During the period of my shoulder surgery (when I was REALLY in a lot of pain) it was 222. I'm going to go back next week and have my thyroid checked as it's been a while and I've noticed I seem to be tired more than I think I should. I just got up from a two-hour nap and had to force myself up. And this was before noon, for crying out loud! Then again, it could just be winter doldrums or the fact that I'm 73. Ha!
I've got a couple of small quilt tops completed so I think I'm going to bite the bullet and see if I can get the batting and backing on the next couple or three days. That's the hard part of quilt making and it's even tougher if your back is sending reminders that there's something wrong with it. I intend to keep ignoring it as long as possible.
Joyce Lee stopped in yesterday and she's recuperating from hernia surgery. She said she never wants to go through a surgery again because it gets harder and harder as you age. I can attest to that! She has to move slowly and be careful of how she moves; plus she's anxious to get back to her part time job working in the college kitchen. We're heading to the casino on Monday to have lunch with the girls.
One of these days I'm going to have to break down and buy another cellphone I think. Or see if Hunter can help me set up one of my old phones stored away in a shoe box.
My android phone now has been acting up time and time again by either not accepting incoming calls and sometimes not letting me call out. People call and say their calls go straight to voice mail yet my phone never rings. Other times it changes itself from a regular ring to SILENT. No rhyme or reason why. Right now it is continually dinging a few times an hour -- day and night. I have to turn it off altogether when I go to bed because it wakes me up. Even when I throw it in a drawer. I think I want to have a phone that just calls people, takes pictures, and lets me text. Am I repeating myself? Probably.
I finished watching 'The Affair' on Showtime (two seasons) and while I was not entertained with all the damn sex scenes, the twists and turns of the mystery plot was really something. One of the oddest shows I've ever seen. But good. Now I'm back to watching 'The Americans' with Keri Russell. I had watched two seasons earlier (on Amazon I think?) but then the next season you had to pay for. That happened to me with 'The Good Wife' and I was so hooked on it, I actually paid for a few episodes before catching up with it on television each week. Now I've lost interest altogether.
I never did sympathize with the stars of The Affair and I rooted all the way through for the cops. Now I'm doing the same thing with 'The Americans.' I want the FBI to catch 'em! Or maybe we're supposed to be rooting for the FBI. They are are Soviet spies, after all.
Mary told me that Jake is doing real well at swim lessons. Last Saturday was the first time he allowed the teacher to not hang on to him. He took off dog paddling with his floating device and was just as proud as punch of himself. Wish I had been there. Pretty good for two years old.
Time to get moving. Gotta go pick Maddie up at the high school at 4:15 today. She continued to run all winter and track starts soon so she's eager for that. Here's a couple of photos I saw on her FB page. So hard to believe those kids are in high school already.
