I watched Spotlight on pay-for-view last night. It got Best Picture this year and while it was good, I didn't think it was THAT good. And I discovered I don't like the acting of Mark Ruffalo or Michael Keaton. I think I'll watch 'Trumbo' next. I tuned in to another episode of House of Cards but am finding the main characters so evil and nasty, I'm not sure I want to even continue watching them. I probably will, though. I was going to watch Ray Donovan but fatigue won out and I hit the sack.
I'm going to work on my quilt at the kitchen table today. I used hi-loft batting so I plan on tying this quilt like I did the last two. My machine has been acting up the last couple of times I've used it. I wonder if using iron-on applique is hurting the mechanisms any. I hope not as I really like applique and find it easier than using the 'turn under and sew by hand' method.
Finished reading the Pulitzer winning book 'So Long, See you tomorrow' by William Maxwell. Sent to half.com for another of his books (Ancestors) as it deals with his memoir and family history. Will start 'Dad' by William Wharton next. It didn't win the Pulitzer but his book 'Birdy' did. It was made into a movie so I intend to look for it, as well.
Starting this week I intend to get busy on IDing all my photographs and scanning in more. Looking forward to it as I love stuff like that. Here are two from 1944 that I'm still trying to get positive IDs on...
My grampa Lew Gene, me, Judy Hopkins?, Arlie Blankenship, Jack Hopkins. In front: unk girl?unk boy? Dave & Ed Hopkins?
Dottie (tall girl standing?), my grandpa, me, Judy
Hopkins, unk girl on left of Lew Gene behind leaf. This would be
1944 in Grandpa's garden on the south side of his house.
Saw on Facebook that Brian McConaghy (3rd son of Teresa that recently died) is selling his photography. I bought this one...
You should check out his stuff on his page. Really nice and I know he could use the money.
I had my neighbor take some pictures from her 2nd story window of the lot across the street as I like to have before and after shots. Here's one I took before any houses were built and what she took yesterday. I'm fairly certain more work is going to begin over there.
Guess I'll get busy on the clocks now. Then get dressed and to work on that blanket. Here's the latest Mary posted on FB of Jakey eating ice cream and below that is my favorite photo of him. Think I'm going to get it enlarged and framed as it makes me giggle every time I see it.
Yeah, like I can read!
