Wednesday waiting

Every Wednesday I wake up anticipating reading the PT Leader. I usually wonder afterwards exactly why.  And sometimes that e-edition is late (like today) and I'm fuming.  'Cause patience isn't my strong suit the older I get.  So....to pass the time I thought I'd write an early morning blog.  Man, I sure am tired this a.m.  Hope I perk up as the day continues. I can always tell when I'm going to be needing a nap and today is one of those.

I'm going to have to bite the bullet and get off my butt to do some stretching (and other) exercises. I suspect that's the only relief I'm going to get for my achy hip that continues to interfere with nighttime slumber.  I've taken to putting two pillows under my knees and using a heating pad if things get miserable but the pillow technique only works if I stay on  my back. It's hard to hold that position throughout the night when your body prefers side sleeping.  And I've noticed the past couple of nights that the pain (only the left hip) manages to work itself into my dreams.  It's bad enough when your bladder insists you wake up but when other body parts get into the act as well, it can make for a restless night.  No wonder I'm in a bad mood all the time.  ha ha

Well, Jenni and Sammy just returned home. She signed house papers yesterday and should get the key this afternoon so we'll probably start moving a few things from my house to hers next week.  Wayne's mother and step-dad have had a bumper crop of zucchini this year (have given almost 200 to the food bank) so he brings me a couple now and again. This morning I ground up one for the freezer. Too tired to do them both but they keep. Anyhow, thought I would show you my routine of working with zucchini.
                                               First I peel them....
Then I grind them up with my little food processor....
And then the plastic bags go in the freezer for use later in breads. I also like to add cracker crumbs, onions, egg, etc. to make zucchini patties for dinner. Just fry like potato cakes. So yummy!  Zucchini bread is super easy to make too.  Here's the recipe I use:
2 cups grated zucchini               3 cups flour
1/2 C. oil                                     1/2 tsp. salt
1 egg                                            2 tsp. cinnamon
2 C. sugar                                     1 tsp. ea baking soda & baking powder
2 tsp. vanilla                                 1/4 tsp. ea mace, cloves, allspice
1/2 C. chopped nuts (optional)

Stir ingredients on left together. Stir in dry ingredients. Bake in TWO greased bread pans for 70 minutes at 350.

Yesterday I spent a couple hours or more in the sewing room. Am working on a strip quilt that I saw demonstrated on YouTube.  (easy peasy)
Sorry my pictures seem a little blurry this morning. They match my head.

Well, Joyce Lee just dropped in to return some books I lent her and to give me a birthday card with a scratch ticket. Think I'll go check it out and see if I'm a winner.

Here's two pictures I took of backyard crows this a.m.

(Won $2 on my scratch)
