Just finished watching Season 5 of 'Alone.' SOOOOO GOOD! The two guys I wanted came down to winner and runner up. Fascinating program. This season took place in Mongolia. All the people picked to compete were getting redemption as they "tapped out" of previous shows. Meaning they had to quit because of starvation, illness, injury, loneliness, or whatever.
I found myself making snide remarks at the tv through all the episodes. Stuff like: You're stupid, you're boring, what a sissy, you cry baby, you're full of crap, I hope you lose, give me a break! Oh it went on and on night after night as I sat there all comfy in my recliner thinking how hard can that be.
Believe me, it looked plenty hard and I know I could never ever do it. One woman had to "tap out" early after just a few days because she was casting out her fishing line and got a hook embedded into the top of her hand. Very graphic as she tried for 20 hours to get it out herself. And oh, my, they showed us everything. She lasted so long in a previous season that they made her tap out because she had lost so much weight. I think she was from Alaska.
Another woman (from Raymond, WA) did pretty well in previous season but this time she had an MS attack and couldn't walk. That was scary to watch as they informed us all about the disease with remarks below.
One young kid tapped out super early. Just couldn't take being uncomfortable. Baby faced punk. I called him Pussy. Another guy had to quit because he couldn't poop for several days and got horrible stomach cramps. Oh, this show is very graphic.
The fun part is that the medical crew comes in every now and again to make sure they're strong enough to continue and when the last guy is standing (but doesn't know it because everyone is separated miles apart) he thinks it's just another weigh in and then he turns around and his wife is there. Sam won this time and he cried and cried as it meant half a million dollars for him and family. I was actually kind of surprised his wife was there because I figured Mongolia was too far away to fly anyone in but what do I know? Ha! I've been staying up past 11 most nights as I couldn't pull myself away.
Was kind of surprised with all the damn rain today. I hope it's nicer tomorrow as I have to drive to Port Townsend. I was going to paint rocks today but I got on a "project kick" to get going on downsizing for my future move. I completely got the main bathroom cleaned out but then there was hardly anything in there except knickknacks as I mostly just use the bathroom in my bedroom.
I'm going to put a lot of things in the back bedroom (already started) so I can sort, wrap, and box them up as I go and then take the boxes to the garage until my storage unit is ready and I'll transfer stuff up there little by little. I went on this "free Clallam County" website and managed to give away three small tables and a floor lamp. A woman is coming tomorrow to take the heavy tv table in the sewing room along with that tv (which has a built in VCR in it). I'll also throw in VHS tapes. At some point I will probably opt to have a yard sale but they are so much work and you're lucky if you can get anything for your stuff. People just don't want to pay much.
I learned of what churches I can take my clothing to so I don't have to use Goodwill and my plan is to go slow and do the house room by room. Once the clothes are done, I may work on everything I have hanging on all the walls. Need to see who I can get to take my pots on the deck too. Most are full of flowers and bulbs.
When Hunter gets home from college, him and Wayne will move my single bed to Hunter's old room. He's taking over Maddie's room which is larger and has an attached bathroom but Jen still needs a bed for company or when Maddie comes home. My single bed has a brand new mattress and it will free up a lot of room for me in the sewing room where I have it now. Going to put a table in there so I can set up my three computers. My really old one (for scanning - I'm helping Mary G. with her project) and my old laptop for playing scrabble and card games and my new laptop for everything else.
I'm hoping I can post pictures on the "free website" from time to time to get people to come pick up freebies. Sometimes giving stuff away is hard. Lots of folks really need things but there are plenty out there too who want fancier stuff for free.
Here are three items I'll probably give away. Let me know if you're interested.
Real sturdy office chair. At least I think it could be an office chair. I used it for sewing sometimes. It's heavy but good quality.
This little table is fairly easy to lift. I bought it to put my AC unit on so the drip pan would be easier to empty. Oh, that reminds me..I'll have to see about selling that upright A/C unit too. It's in the garage now.
This heavy duty wicker trunk I've had for ages. Good for storage but just another piece of furniture I'd like to dispose of.
