Friday Night

I'm feeling kind of blah right now. Didn't get my nap so the period from 4 to 6 can be somewhat blue for me.  It seems getting enough sleep has really become an issue to wrestle with as I stumble my way through my 70s.  I can usually drop off at night without too much difficulty and I'm used to the routine of getting up to pee. You pretty much have to go with it 'cause it seems to be the norm.  Sometimes if I wake up at 4 or later, getting back to sleep can be a problem. Not always but enough to make it annoying.  And if I'm awake at 5 or  6 and have to get up, the day generally goes downhill from there.  My mornings are okay and I manage to get odds and ends done but after lunch, I start to run out of steam.  Naps in the recliner have been going on for some time in my life but every now and again, I'll find myself plowing right along and not needing a nap. Never have been able to figure out why that is.  This winter with the days getting shorter I'm finding a nap is pretty much required. And if I'm really tired, I can sleep two hours and have to struggle to make myself get up.

I think I may need to start turning off my phone when I nap 'cause texts or phone calls invariably wake me up and then I can't always get back to sleep again.  I should just go with the flow and accept the fact that older folks need more sleep but like so many other things in my life routine, I'm finding naps annoy me.  Has this post bored you to tears yet?  It has me but I'm just sitting here and am tired of playing solitaire or bingo and decided to blog -- even if I have nothing to say. I've never let that stop me. Speaking of age, here's a cute cartoon from Facebook that says it all...

Dinner is in the oven. I'm baking a fish fillet and some french fries. Pie for dessert and I'm really looking forward to that more than the fish.  I did get a few things accomplished today, though. Packaged up all my breads and cookies to give to various folks. Mostly tomorrow when I head into Port Townsend.  All my gift wrapping is finished along with the baking and I must say, I'm glad to have it out of the way.  Visits with the kids will be drawn out. Catie is coming on the 21st with her boyfriend 'cause she has to work the day before and day after Christmas. Sue and Paul will come over on Christmas eve for dinner and Mary and Jenni and I will go out for dinner on the 26th. Jenni has a gift card to Appleby's in Sequim and then Mary and Andy will leave  from there to head back to Renton.  So hard to get everyone together at once but people have their own plans going on and when you live far apart, you have to deal with transportation which can be ugly getting from the Seattle side to the Olympic Peninsula.

I'm kind of looking forward to packing away all the decorations and getting out my sewing stuff, my jigsaw puzzles, and my crafts.  Don't have any plans for New Years but then I haven't really celebrated that holiday in years. Too hard to stay awake. Ha!  I'm more concerned with whether we get snow and various family members might have to contend with it while out driving. I won't have to contend with it 'cause I just plain won't leave the house.

Went to the casino yesterday and had lunch with Mary Norton, Joanne Gilles, and Joyce Lee.
I played my son-in-law's favorite machine and won $176.  Of course it cost me $40 but still......

Well, I can't think of much else right now. Hope to take a lot of pictures tomorrow so maybe the next blog will be more interesting.
