An uneventful day for the most part. Only flaw was the left hip that reminded me all day long that she's not a happy hip. ha ha I've been trying not to take ibuprofen but I broke down just now and swallowed a naproxen. One thing or another is going to get me -- arthritis, kidney disease, heart attack, stroke, nasty virus...oh the list is endless. Let me say right now....if you hear of my passing this year, be assured I was more than ready to go and happy that I'm done with the body aches and pains. I know. Could I get any more morbid? But it's what I do. Just tolerate me.
Breakfast was just so so but again, I was thrilled to have it cooked for me. Dinner was good too. Beef stew, cooked cauliflower (which I gagged on as a kid but can tolerate now), pea salad (which I'll save for tomorrow's lunch, cornbread, and apple pie. Well, that's what they called it but it was really apple cobbler. Tasty, though. And lemonade to wash it down.
I ended up taking a recliner nap for about an hour or so. Not sure why I've been so tired but my body goes through these stages of being peppy and then needing a nap every single afternoon. Whatever. It's not like I can go anywhere. Well, I could go if I wanted to; and I might. I want to go downtown and get some early morning pictures of empty Water Street businesses. Maybe I'll do that tomorrow. Unless it's too cold out. I am delicate, after all.
I set up my sewing machine and got out my material. Wanted to work on this one system of using iron-on applique squares but I couldn't quite remember how it was done so I sat down with Youtube and tried to find the video again. I'll try again tomorrow. I rearranged all my movies in the closet and continue to observe them with love. When I tried to play a VHS tape, it wasn't working so I spent about a half hour experimenting with different plugs in different outlets. Figured it out too! I couldn't have done that EVER when VCRs first came out and you had to rent them at Movies Plus.
People are starting to warm up to me a little more every day. I'll make them like me if they want to or not. Most were bashful and standoffish but I'm right there in their face smiling and saying hello so I guess they're getting used to me. Some of the names are coming easier but I still need to learn last names as that makes me remember them more. When I was introduced the first week, more than one said: Oh we have another Joyce. I knew who they were talking about too as I knew that Joyce. She lived down the hall from my folks and Lill told me she became. friends with her as well. I saw her obit a few months back in the Leader. Joyce O'Neal. Can't recall if that's the right spelling. She was a reader. Her apartment was wall to wall books. Mine is wall to wall quilts, pictures, knickknacks, and clutter but it's home.
My sister's trying to make face masks on her machine. I took her a pattern I saw online but she said it was too complicated so she made her own pattern. She's good at that. I watched golf for an hour or so. It was a rerun episode but I enjoyed it. I'd like to get into reading but I can tell I'm a little too tired for that right now and I know it would put me to sleep. I might make some chocolate chip cookies tomorrow. The scale this morning said I was down a few pounds again. Can't let that get out of hand so I'll cook up a batch. haha
I'm enjoying this tree outside my window as the small birds are hopping around on it and on my window sill in the mornings. Gotta keep my camera ready. And that's it for this Saturday. This is the week I quit smoking. 28 years ago. Interesting to me only, of course.
And a picture from the past....
