Chapter 15 - Major regret, pet peeve, and travel hopes

What is your major regret?

Lorraine:  I wish I hadn’t been so severe with the kids.

John: That I didn’t go to school and get more education.

Marcella: That I didn’t meet John earlier

Arlie: Not going to college.

Joyce: That I smoked for 32 years. That I procrastinated at writing and learning new things.

Dale: Inferiority complex with women.

Janie: Moving too much. I should have kept my house on Lawrence next to Aunt Elva.

Sue S: I always wanted to be a famous singer but I can’t even carry a tune. I also wanted to play the piano but I never practiced enough.

Lill: Not going on walks with my adoptive mother when I was in high school.

Marlee:  That I didn’t spend more quality time with my kids when they were babies and toddlers.

Cindy: Not spending more time with my grandmothers. Getting to know their history and really knowing how they felt about life.

Bill: No divorce. I wish I had the emotional maturity to see things coming. My ex and I are still friends and I miss her greatly.

Sue W: I don’t really have any major regrets. I’ve learned to accept what I’ve done and try to be a better person every day.

Mary: Losing weight and keeping it off.

What is your greatest pet peeve?

John: Our president, George W. Bush. He never should have been elected.

Marcella: That the world isn’t at peace.

Arlie: Healthy people that park in handicap parking spaces.

Denny:  I probably have some pet peeves but over the last number of years, the Lord has been working on my pet peeves and most of them are long gone. Found out that most of them were really the mirror of flaws that I had and didn’t like about myself.

Joyce: Noises that disturb the peace while I’m at home.

Dale: Self-absorbed people.

Janie: Liars

Sue S: I hate cell phones. I also hate it when I go into a store and they start vacuuming or they ignore me.

Lill: When a person doesn’t follow through with what they say they will do.

Marlee: Drivers who don’t use their turn signals, race ahead in the outside lane and cut you off at the last minute to get to the exit lane. I also hate it when the traffic light turns RED and three or four cars still go through the intersection running the red light.

Cindy: An unvacuumed carpet.

Bill: Clutter. I like things nice, neat, and in order.

Sue W: When someone wastes time to hunt you down to tell you what you did or didn’t do instead of taking care of it and filling you in later. Teamwork hypocrites.

Mary: When people make “quotes” with their fingers when they talk.

Where would you love to travel that you’ve never visited?

Lorraine: The Holy Land

John: More of the United States

Marcella: England

Arlie: France

Denny: The Pacific Rim. Particularly Malaysia and Singapore.

Joyce: New York City, Holland

Dale: The Chinese Province of Xinjiang Uygur Zishiqu. Few westerners have visited there. Their rivers have produced jade for the Chinese for an estimated 5000 years.

Janie: The town in Canada where the Dionne quints were born.

Jim: The Isle of Man.

Sue S: San Diego to visit Dale, Diane, and Brett. When I was younger I wanted to fly to different countries but now I would just like to explore the United States.

Lill: Australia or Tasmania.

Marlee: Jeff and I have plans to visit the east coast someday. I want to visit the Smithsonian Institute and the New England area …take all the historical tours, etc.

Cindy: All my adult life I have wanted to see the Smithsonian Institute and Rockefeller Square at Christmas. I think, in reality, making it to Jennings, Kansas to meet my great aunt Elynor in person would be really great.

Bill: I’d like to do an Alaskan cruise.

Sue W: Every single wildlife refuge in the world.

Mary: Prague and Italy.
