So Tired of this cold weather

I've had a heck of a time crawling out of bed during this entire cold snap we've been experiencing. A few times I've even gotten up at 4 or 5 to turn the heat on in my room -- and I never do that!  Tomorrow is garbage pickup so I've got to pull the two large recycle bins across the lawn and down to the alley. It's hard to maneuver that uneven ground even when the sun is shining but then again....at least I have a roof over my head and a lawn to walk across.  I can't imagine how the homeless are existing throughout this.  It would kill me for sure!

Jenni commented this morning that she doesn't know where I get my energy as soon as I'm out of bed.  I was taking out the trash and recycle stuff, loading and turning on the dishwasher, getting the newspaper off the steps, and making coffee.  I told her that if I don't keep my body moving (no matter how slow and hard it is) that the joints just plain won't move.

I wish I could figure out why my eyes have been itching so bad. I've been using artificial tears faithfully and keeping a pan of water on the stove.  I've also taken an antihistamine and used the cool mist humidifier in my bedroom at night.  As soon as I got up this morning, the itching started in and I'm fairly certain it's sinus related as that area also hurts. I did dump out the last three pills in this bottle that expired in 2010 and took a pill an hour ago that is good until 2018.  Sometimes I wonder, though, if those expiration dates mean anything.  My instincts tell me that "maybe" having the heat on all day is contributing but if that's the case, I don't know what I can do about it. Certainly need the heat on  during this horrible weather we're having.  Like everything else that acts up on my body, I'm going to have to bite the bullet and wait for it to improve.

I spent most of yesterday working on my book.  I wanted to include a chapter about my half-sister that is in prison in Pennsylvania for murder.  She might get out in 2024 for early release but there's no guarantee.  I have 88 letters from her from the last five years and it was time consuming going through them to pick out various things to include.  I managed, though. Ended up with over 5600 words!  I've probably got enough for a book now but I still have a few things to write about.  Even though I don't actually know the topics.  I just know there's something more. Plus I still have to pick which photos to include.  Lots of editing yet any way I look at it. Been fun but I'm looking forward to getting back to my sewing machine too.

I ordered HBO for one month at the end of December and I must say, I've really been enjoying it. I binge watched Girls and finished off 5 seasons last night.  At first I was going to pass on it because there was WAY TOO MUCH SEX!  Gets boring real quick.  I stuck with it, though, and found myelf getting involved with the story lines.  It's about 4 girls in their 20s living in NY and everything they go through as far as boyfriends, jobs, family, and life around them.  Lena Dunham (as Hannah) is the star and is behind a lot of the writing and directing. She's wonderful!  She wanted to be a writer so I identified with her the most. Plus she's fat.  ha ha  I think what amazed me most was the way she dressed and had sex on screen and "let it all hang out."  Even the clothes she wore throughout the series did nothing to hide her chubbiness.  The first time she ripped off her top and walked bare butt across the room I was flabbergasted!  It's one of those shows that ends each episode with a song you've never heard of but wonder "who is singing that?"  I go to IMDB often to read up on the stars and was surprised to learn that another of the girls is the daughter of Brian Williams, the disgraced news commentator on NBC.  This show made me laugh out loud several times.  And some of the scenes, I laughed and laughed and laughed.  (I don't usually experience TV that way these days).

Jenni is taking Hunter out for dinner tonight. Maddie has an away game in basketball. I plan on making a pot of stew. Haven't made stew in quite a while and I'm looking forward to it.  I got two knitted hats in the mail yesterday from Carol Plaster (and Pat who I think makes them). They are sooooo nice!  My neighbor gave me one a few days back too. All this because I posted on Facebook that I needed a hat. I had no idea I would actually have some given to me. Nice surprise. Am thinking perhaps I need to look around the house and see what else I need. ha ha

Jenni went to the casino with a couple of friends yesterday to play bingo. None of them won, though. She's having a hell of a time right now with medical insurance.  She got a new medical card and now they're informing her that her Seattle neurologist (at Swedish) isn't "in the plan" and they want her to find another doctor.  She's very upset as she was supposed to go for an infusion next week. She's calling the drug company now to try and figure out what steps she needs to do to still qualify for the free drug dosage. It's VERY VERY expensive!  She had been seeing a neurologist in Bremerton so she might have to look into returning there.  Such a shame that people are being manipulated like this.

I purposely didn't watch the Trump news conference yesterday. I knew it would be more of the same ole thing and I wasn't about to be upset about it.  I'm going to work real hard at ignoring the news for this year but that will be hard since I'm a news junkie.  Going to work on my Trump scrapbook a little this weekend. I've been clipping out editorials and cartoons about it, among other things.

I watched a Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher documentary on HBO last night and it was very entertaining.  Debbie was obviously dealing with some dementia and walking was getting harder and harder for her. Carrie seemed to drink Coca Cola constantly and smoked.  The show was apparently made by Debbie's two other daughters. It was good.

Brrr... I'm sitting right in front of the heat vent in this room and I'm still cold. Guess I'll go retrieve a blanket for my legs.

Pictures for the day:
Standing in the backyard a few days ago. The snow hasn't left yet.
The neat hat the neighbor lady made for me. I'm standing in front of the t-shirt quilt my sister-in-law put together.
Taken at my ex-husband's house last week.  Hunter, Catie, and Madelyn in the back. Riley, Jake, and Kendal sitting in front. Riley & Kendal are twins of Jenni's step-sister, Shannon McIntire Dykman.
Jake has a big knot on his head from jumping off a chair and hitting his head on a dump truck.
