Lots of stops on my agenda today. Went to bank, stopped at bread store, over to Dollar Store, off to the casino, and on the way home I hit Penney's, Office Depot, Book Store (sorta), Walmart, State Patrol office, and Safeway. Needless to say, once I got home, unpacked, and put on comfy clothes, it was time for a nap! Especially since I woke up at 4:30 and kinda dozed as best I could in the recliner. Got my fingers crossed that I sleep like a baby tonight.
Bank, bread store, and dollar store all went well. No standing in line for service and I was in and out quickly. Casino was okay although I left broke. What else is new? Just as well, I suppose. Wouldn't want to win big or I'd get addicted. I think. I'll never know for sure.
I drove around and around in downtown Sequim looking for the book store. Do you know how hard downtown Sequim is to navigate on a busy afternoon? Dreadful! I finally parked and walked to this gift shop to ask where the book store was. Gift store had way too many "smelly items" and I had to get out of there fast. Come to find out the book store went out of business a year ago. Drove over to Penney's just to see what was there. Nothing interested me. Noticed the police station sign was missing and wondered where they relocated. Stopped at Office Depot but the two young clerks had no idea where the police went. They also didn't have any tall office chairs or the stickers I wanted to put on my keyboard keys. (letters are fading)
I stopped at Walmart and ended up having to walk the entire length of the store because some fool decided bird seed needed to be as far away from dog, cat, rabbit, and fish food as they could possibly make it. I discovered this AFTER a clerk directed me in the wrong direction. One old guy was trying to avoid this couple in front of him as he was coming around a corner and he knocked a whole bunch of bras on the floor. I helped him pick them up and said: Just look what you did! You really wanted to touch some bras today, didn't you? He told me those days were over a long long time ago. Ha Ha
I have this picture (which I thought was Kitchen Dick Road) that I intend to use on my title page of my book. I had taken four different photos of this road years ago (one in each season) as the trees changed color. Anyhow, once I inserted it in the book, I suddenly had doubts if it actually was Kitchen Dick. I decided to turn off the highway and go see. Never did find it so I rode around a bit looking for it. Then I went to the State Patrol office (cause I couldn't find the police station when I was in Sequim) and showed the picture on my phone to a guy there. He verified it was Kitchen Dick.
He told me I didn't go far enough down Kitchen Dick as it was on the other side of Old Olympic Hwy, not the new Hwy 101. As I drove home, the rains picked up and by the time I got closer to Port Angeles, traffic was getting pretty heavy. I opted to stop at Safeway anyhow. I got in and out quick enough, I suppose, but trying to get out of the parking lot was another matter. Old people (just like me) in big ole trucks and cars trying to maneuver in and out of parking spaces slowly had the whole area in one big mess. If someone hadn't left their cart in front of my car, I could have pulled through and exited the back way and gone home quicker with little traffic. Oh well, I made it in one piece.
I sure am tired, though. Think I'll set my book work aside until tomorrow. I had Ruth's caregiver take our photo at lunch but for some reason, the camera didn't flash and we turned out blurry.
And Linda and Joanne...I think that guy in the hat was Dave Olsen.
And that's about all I got for now. Jen and Wayne are going away for an overnight "date" tomorrow so I'll be working steadily on my book. Am thinking I might invest in a little hand vacuum. Anybody have any thoughts on whether they're worth the money? My upright vacuums well enough, I suppose, (not great but good enough) but I've noticed the hose part doesn't really suck very well and I've cleaned it the best I know how. I'd kind of like to take the covers off each heat vent and vacuum them out but I'm not sure a small hand vacuum is what I need. I also need something easier to do the inside of the car. Although I don't intend to worry about that until spring rolls around.
As I was looking for something the other day, I realized again that I have got to start cleaning out clutter around here. I thought I was on top of my pictures and paper memorabilia but it's getting out of hand all over again. The pictures on my computer are easy enough to sort and delete as needed but it will definitely take some time. And my boxes of "saved stuff" ---- well, I suppose I should think long and hard about just what is worth saving and what isn't. Sometimes if you wait long enough, stuff you really really wanted all of a sudden looks different and the appeal is gone. All in good time.
Two interesting pictures I saw on Facebook...
I took this one of the McConaghy boys at their dad's funeral
And this is Pat probably in the 1950s
