Taking it easy today

It's 10 a.m. and I've been up for four hours already.  I was nervous going to bed last night as I knew I had to contend with that hip pain upon arising and it's been a lot more painful than usual.  It was okay, though; still hurt pretty bad but having the walker on wheels eased the severity of standing on it. So thankful.  I use the walker first thing in the morning to walk around the apartment getting the hip used to morning movement. It usually becomes tolerable within 20 to 30 minutes.  I can live with that.  I've got exercises to do, pot cream to rub on, ibuprofen or tylenol to depend on if need be, and there's always rest. My favorite cure.  Ha!  I never thought I would get excited about having a walker but life is strange. It does help that several people here depend on them too.  I haven't actually gone out and about with mine yet as I can generally walk down to the dining room or car without needing it. Still nice to know it's there for me, however.

I went to Safeway at 8 as I needed half a dozen items and wanted to go with few crowds. Did get to say hello to Kris Logue and that was nice. I seldom ran into anybody I knew in P.A.  I came home and jumped in the shower. Well, not jumped exactly. I'm still moving slow as I learn my new surroundings and showers aren't a place you can use without paying attention to how you move.  After getting dressed, I went online to study the Shutterfly website to see how to order prints. I only ordered four but at least I know how their site works now and they'll be delivered next week.

At 9:30 I went to the dining room to pick up my breakfast tray and bring it back here.  This morning it was hashbrowns, 2 eggs, 2 link sausage, peaches, and OJ.  I kind of like eating in my room as I can work the crossword puzzle at the same time.  I've got Pandora music playing on the tv. I refuse to listen to any news shows as they never talk about anything except you know what.  And I'm weary and saddened by all that business. As everyone is.

I looked over the library shelves quickly and chose a Robert Ludlum to bring back to my room.  I think I'm going to have to throw out the bar of soap that is left in the shower. I wish I could remember what brand it is but I'm thinking Dial. Anyhow, my arms are itching to beat the band and that soap I used is the only thing I can think of that might be causing it.  What an uncomfortable nuisance. I just rubbed on some Vaseline Essential Healing cream so I'm hoping that nips it in the bud.

Was so nice to see Mary and Jake yesterday, if even for a short time. She took him to the bunkers at Fort Worden and he LOVED IT! Didn't want to leave and wants to come back with his friends, his bike, and nerf guns.

Mary brought me a couple of under-the-bed bins so I'm going to find something to store in them today. She also took half a dozen large bins home that I had sitting in my car. She brought me lanyards so I can wear my keys around my neck and not worry about locking myself out. Also brought the cord to my small tv that I keep in the bedroom. And gifts of new dish towels, and St. Patrick's Day cookies that her and Jake made.

Dinner last night was one of my favorites. Cheeseburgers with tomatoes and pickles and onion, french fries, green salad, and chocolate cake.  Yep. I was in heaven.  I thought I would love having free cable tv and while I'm sure I'll like it for certain things (like sports and award shows) so far it's been a huge annoyance.  Too many commercials so I find myself going back to my roku channels a lot. Mainly Disney+, Prime, and Hulu.  Last night I started watching this Susan Hayward movie called Stolen Hours from 1963.  Got too tired to watch it to the end so that'll be some of my entertainment today. I always liked Susan Hayward.

I may set up my sewing machine this weekend.  I think I have enough material onhand to occupy myself for a while. I did bring some unfinished projects from P.A.  Internet went out for a few hours yesterday and that's the second time this week.  TV still runs but no Internet and that means no Roku channels either.  I decided to pull out some old VHS tapes I had brought just in case this happens again.  I also have a few DVD movies so I guess I'll be fine. And yes, I know. I could  just sit down and read a book.  There's always that.  ha ha

Thought I'd look around to see what photos I had of the folks when they lived here. Found two.  And Happy First Day of Spring to you all.
