What person made you laugh the most?
Lorraine: Red
Skelton
John: I can’t remember his name but there was a big
red-headed guy in the Marine Corps from Harlem. He said his family was the only
white family in the neighborhood and he could make anyone laugh. A born comic.
Marcella: My sister, Beverly
Arlie: Gene Blair. A good ole “down home" Kentucky boy. We
spent many years flying together and I never knew what was going to come out of
his mouth next.
Denny: In the old days, Red Skelton. Now it’s Mr. Bean
Joyce: Steve Martin in the The Jerk and Parenthood. Carol
Burnett in a Mama’s Family skit about the Gong Show. My son, Joe, when he’s
doing imitations.
Dale: Jonathon Winters in the movie, The Loved Ones.
Janie: Carol Plaster.
Jimmy: John Candy, Steve Martin, Adam Sandler, Dan Aykroyd
Sue S: My Aunt Beverly. She was my mom’s oldest sister. I
stayed with her one summer making money for college tuition. I loved my Uncle Clarence too. They were a
good pair and it was a very happy summer.
Marlee: My friend, Cheryl Underwood from high school days.
Cindy: I laugh a lot. If you ask the people who know me
best, they will tell you that I am the person who makes me laugh the most. I do
crack myself up quite a bit. My son, Tyler, as a preteen had the ability to
make me laugh so hard my face would hurt. My best friend, June, laughs with me
so hard that I end up laughing at her laughing. My grandad, Red Sullivan, could
get a whole room laughing just by laughing himself.
Bill: I have a friend in Washington named Teresa Oien. She
has been a lifelong friend. I just wish we lived near each other as she is my
therapy.
Sue W: Robin Williams and my daughter, Catie.
Mary: My brother, Joe.
Joe: Sgt. Dennis Schafer from Ft. Hood, TX
Who was the most famous person you’ve ever met?
John: Tyrone Power was in my marine regiment. I used to
stand by him in the chow line.
Marcella: Governor Dan Evans
Arlie: Dahli Lama, King of Tonga, President Ford, General
Westmoreland, Admiral Roy Johnson, Admiral John Hyland, Admiral Jocko Clark,
Admiral McCain, Admiral Davis, Ambassador Bunks, Ambassador Laise, Prime
Minister Holt of Australia. I was assigned to a navy aircraft flying executive
dignitaries for 17 years. It was a privilege to meet and fly for them. They
were very pleasant and down to earth. A once-in-a lifetime opportunity for a Port
Townsend boy. A dream come true.
Denny: I have met and introduced quite a few well-known
people when I was the president of Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship
International in Salem, OR. Five-star general Ralph Haines, gospel singer Big
John Hall and several others. Had some US senators as speakers but can’t
remember their names.
Joyce: Roy Orbison, JP Patches & Gertrude, Sheriff Tex,
author Ann Rule and talked to Regis Philbin and Kathie Lee Gifford on the
phone.
Dale: John Sinkankas, author of 11 books on lapidary,
gemology and related subjects and have visited his house several times. I also
once chauffeured the immediate subordinate to the Secretary of the Navy at a
summit conference in Guam.
Janie: JP Patches and Gertrude
Jimmy: Singer Gail Davies
Sue S: Sky King. He gave me a glossy picture with his best
regards and I thought he really meant it.
Cindy: I once rode a plane from Oahu to Maui with Phil
Donahue and Marlo Thomas. Same thing with Kurt Russell only that was from Seattle
to LA. I never actually got to meet them, though.
Bill: I met Bill Clinton and Drew Carey
Sue W: I served author Frank Herbert tea when I worked at
the Water St. Deli in Port Townsend. My husband played tennis with OJ Simpson
30 years ago at his dad’s country club.
Mary: Barry Manilow, Jamie Lee Curtis
Joe: Louis Gossett, Jr.
