I sure was shocked when I found out the ugly carpeting in the hallways on both floors here is "the new carpeting". I was positive it was only the padding underneath and the good stuff was coming. If our manager chose it, she either got it free or super cheap. Or....she has lousy taste. I don't usually care one way or another about stuff like that but this carpeting is dreadful and I hate that it's going to be in my face until I kick the bucket or move.
This morning the manager came around and told us all to stay in our apartments for a couple hours or so because they were applying glue to the area down the hall and around the elevator. One lady was ticked off because she can't use the stairs and her dog needs to go out.
I woke up way too early this morning and finally just threw in the towel and got up at 5:30. You do get a lot done that way although I had to do quiet stuff until at least 9. (Like vacuuming, dishes, tv, and moving stuff) I set some of my rocks out on the little shelf outside my door with a sign telling people to take one. If they don't disappear, I'll just hide around town. Learned (too late) that I didn't wait long enough to let the rocks dry and I put them in a basket. The ones underneath stuck a bit and then the paint chipped off. Darn it. And it was so much trouble making those too! They didn't all get chips so I do have some to give away for Christmas but I'll know next time.
I got a couple dozen Christmas cards mailed this morning and will do the second half tomorrow. Nice to have that chore off my list. I drove to the Hadlock post office yesterday to mail my last two Xmas gifts and I'm REALLY glad to have that done. I stopped at Coho Printing (out near the Elks) to get my Christmas letter printed off for the cards. I haven't sent cards in years but decided I'd do a few this year.I spent a couple hours sewing this morning and got 5 more strip squares done for the next quilt I'm making. I have 42 done and only need six more. I also made a pot holder. My next project (this afternoon) is to dump out my jar of beach glass and see if I have some good pieces to make this bird picture. I got one for my birthday and I really love it.
Went to an alumni meeting yesterday for a photo shoot for the newsletter. We took a couple of "goofy" ones after the nice one.
This next picture was either in the newspaper on on Facebook. I can't remember but I found it interesting. I guess it was the PDN.
I don't bake cookies as often as I used to. Oven is difficult to manage. The one cookie I do buy, however, is Oreos. I have never tried the alternate Oreos as I figured I wouldn't like them but the other day I picked up Lemon Oreos just to try them out. YUM! I like lemon cookies anyway and these are delicious!
Nothing much on my calendar until Tuesday and Wednesday. Have a virtual doctor appt on Tuesday (my first time trying that out) and Jenni will drive me to Poulsbo on Wed so I can get those dang blasted shots in my back. Sure be glad when that's over....and I have my doubts it's even going to work! Nothing like going in pessimistic.
And that's it for today.
