It's 4 pm and dinner time for a lot of the residents. Not sure how many have "the package" which includes breakfast and dinner but I think maybe 14 or so eat in the dining room (at opposite ends of the tables) and maybe that many again (or less) take a tray to their room to eat. I never regret getting off the package as I prefer my own cooking, even though it's mediocre at best. At least I can pick my own hour to eat and my own food.
For breakfast today I had a couple of mini muffins my neighbor made. And they're definitely mini. About a tablespoon but they're tasty and she throws in anything she has onhand. I also had a cup of tea but that was it as I wasn't hungry. Lunch was a leftover slice of taco pie, some grapes, and a small bag of potato chips that someone put on the free table in the laundry room. I seldom buy chips of any kind even though I like them so I was pleased to have the treat. Dinner is going to be a hamburger and some fries I'll cook in the air fryer.
I did my laundry last night around 6 pm so I didn't have any chores to attend to today. I did take two finished quilt tops down to the large table downstairs so I could add batting and backing. Got those pinned up and brought them back up here to go ahead and machine quilt. They were both smaller quilts and the batting was flannel sheeting so it was an easier job than usual. Tomorrow I will finish them both off by doing the border edges.
I've had golf on all day but haven't really watched it. Just like having it on. Tonight I'll see what I can find on Prime or Netflix or Hulu and Youtube and then see how long I can stay awake. I started working on genealogy again but after an hour to two I got discouraged at how I was making no progress. I saw I could get a weeks' free subscription on newspapers.com so I did that --and then discovered that I couldn't really look at anything. Every page I went to told me I had to subscribe. Some free subscription that wasn't! Besides that, the newspapers I was interested in had few of the years I wanted to see. So I probably won't be subscribing to that website.
I decided to let Charlie rest and see if I could find something on his relatives that might lead me to him. I did pull out my old pictures again and realized that the picture I had of these school kids may or may not have had Charlie in them.
A friend repair the photo a bit so now I wonder if Charlie is maybe one of the other boys in this picture. He would have been three or four years younger than Lew Gene. (if my clues are right)
I don't remember who told me (an aunt I think) that she thought the guy in the hat was Grandpa Lew Gene and that the boy in front was Charlie. This photo was from a church group picture I believe. My goal is to get it identified sometime. Here's the entire picture. Could be it's just a picnic since it's taken outside a barn.
