My only errand today

I took my car over to Les Schwab at 1 pm today to have one of my tires checked out for a slow leak. The guy said he fixed the stem on the tire as that was the problem. And then, much to my delight, there was no charge.  It was busy as hell when I pulled in for my appt and I can see why. Good service. Too bad McDonalds can't follow suit. I pretty much quit giving them my business. Not only have the prices gone up but they haven't opened up the lobby (I don't think) and their drive-thru service is poor.

I don't really shop downtown much anymore. Don's Pharmacy lost a lot of business when the new owners opted to not have the fountain. Big mistake.  I also wish  we had some kind of store besides that Mercantile place that is overpriced. And why isn't there a bakery downtown? You know it would sell its wares.  And I miss a few good second hand stores too. Goodwill totally sucks and I seldom go there anymore.  I'm missing the good ole days and the businesses of the past. We'll never see them again. Just like we'll never see doctors that know you and can get you in. It's a different town altogether and I'd better learn to accept it.  Even one of my favorite beaches is hard to visit sometimes.  Cars are parked two blocks up the street a lot of the time when I venture towards North Beach.. Everybody wants to live here.  And the traffic!  Man!  Where are those people coming from.? And while I'm complaining, I miss the Leader of old too.

Tomorrow Mary G. and I will head to Port Angeles to do our shopping. And Sequim. Intend to hit Walmart and Costco and maybe the Dollar Tree. Will also drop off pictures at my two daughters' houses and I think we'll stop to visit an old school pal -- Faye Radley. Now Katherine Critchfield.  More than likely, we'll stop to eat at the casino and support the Indians at the slot machines.

I had to set up my largest fan here in the bedroom again as it's been too dang muggy in here and hard to hear the tv when it's on in the living room.  I've been working on a jigsaw puzzle that someone wrote on the sack "Complete."  Well, I don't know when that was written but I already know there's a at least two missing. Oh well, I'll keep going.  I'm not really in the mood to sew right now. Too hot. I pulled out my various genealogy 3-ring binders and I intend to get all my notes in better order. And maybe some more data added. Once I get into it, I'll lose myself in it and I need a distraction now. Online solitaire and jigsaw puzzles just aren't doing it for me.  I still intend to sit down and read but even that past time can put me to sleep sooner than I intended.  I painted about 8 rocks this week; got them sealed with spray and into my car to hide around town now and again.

Sometimes at night while watching tv I'll do a little counted cross stitch but that can get tiring after a while too so I dug out what yarn I had onhand and thought I would start crocheting. It won't be anything special; just a small afghan using up the various yarns in the bag. I took three or four balls of yarn that I just didn't like and put them on the free table.  Yesterday I went to the free tables in the laundry room on the first floor and I took a nice bath towel (looked brand new) , some modge podge, and two adult color books. I'm hoping my daughter might want them when I stop in tomorrow.

The only things on my calendar for Sept. seem to be physical therapy appts once a week. Looks like that's all I got going for October too.  I hope it does me some good. Sept. 24th I'll probably go to a memorial at the Elks Club or Lynda Spindor. Saw in the paper today that she passed on. She was one of my FB friends and always very nice.

Today is my step-sister, Shannon Timbers birthday. She's 74 and a widow, living with her son and his wife in Yelm.

Grandson, Jacob, started 3rd grade yesterday. Love the pictures Mary sent me.

I saw in the P.A. paper that they had a community photo taken downtown. They usually have them every year. This time I see they want $29 for a print. Good lord!  I wonder if the Leader even ran the photo.

And here's a video I'm pretty sure I posted before but it's cool
