Sunday morning

I don't really have much to yak about today but since it's been a week since I've blogged I thought maybe I'd better try to come up with something. I sure have been having more trouble than usual lately typing. I'm ever so thankful we don't have to use carbon paper or erasers. I'd never be able to get through anything.

It's 10:15 and even though I stayed up past 11 last night (waiting for them to arrive) I still got up at 6:50 this morning. Not sure why. I ran to Safeway about a half hour ago. Only needed bread but I like going early as traffic is light. As many times as I've been to this Safeway I still have to concentrate on how to get out of their parking lot and back on the road to our neighborhood. I suppose I'll get oriented sooner or later.

I've got two doctor appts this week. Tuesday and Thursday. One for a blood draw and one with the hemtologist to discuss my low platelet count. I looked her up online and she looks Indian (like from India). Young thing but then aren't they all these days. My doctor (who is actually a nurse) also looks Indian. Couldn't find a doctor taking patients but I'm fine with this nurse and she seems real helpful.

My Schaumburgs Disease has returned.  (red rash on my bottom legs) Doesn't itch but is ugly and of course, there's no real explanation on line. Could be an autoimmune disorder or allergy or who knows. It went away for months and I even forgot about it but suddenly it's back. Oh well, as long as ugly is the only problem I have with it, I'll tolerate it.

I have been trying different things with my shoes, inserts, and socks to try and be able to walk better. Some days I just can't get around worth a darn and need my walker. This mornng, however, I went to Safeway and was able to walk around with a cart instead of using an electric one. I was thrilled. I had put on a pair of shoes this morning that were an older pair but still look pretty newish and I inserted a shoe insert that was kind of old. Then I put on two pair of socks and while I'm not going to hold my breath, I was very happy that I was able to walk without much of a limp.

To keep myself busy while here alone for the 8 days, I got out my sewing machine and started using up this bag of scraps I had brought with me. I told myself I was going to get through the whole bag before I started anything new. So far I've made about 7 squares.

I've been playing with the idea of making a wall hanging out of them using some of my small cross stitch designs among them. Not sure yet. I do like to sit and do cross stitch while listening to an audiob book or watching tv. Which reminds me, I'd better turn on golf.

Here are some pics Mary sent me of their trip.

andy and jake at niagara falls

Jake & Chrissie (Mary's sis in law) at Lake Ontario
out to dinner with Andy's folks
posing with Andy's folks and his brother and his wife

I was really looking forward to Mary's return so Poppy wouldn't be lonely anymore.

I got out my notebooks on genealogy yesterday and intend to involve myself in family history again. I love working on that stuff. Also intend to start writing again. I got this book called Writing Legacy and it has homework to do in each chapter. Writing lessons basically. I love working on that stuff too.

I continue to try (unsuccessfully) to get a picture of the hummingbirds that come to my feeders on my patio. The minute I open the door they take off. It's really starting to piss me off. haha

On the 28th I  have an art class (of sorts) at the senior center. I hope it's better than the last two classes I've been to. The memoir writing class was boring as hell and the crafts class had us making something that kindergarters would work on. I'm thinking of trying out the senior center in Battleground as I've heard they have a good program and Mary says I can drive there (on back roads) as they aren't terribly that far from us. Maybe I'll attempt that this week or next.

Well, I just got an email from Sharon Sofie so guess I'll sign off here and answer her. Hope your days are comforting and fun.
