Middle of September

Here it is the middle of September already.  I haven't had to turn on the heat yet but I did put a sweater on a couple times.  It's stuffy in here today, though, so I just turned on the fan.  And put artificial tears in my eyes as they seem kind of blurry and uncomfortable today.  Didn't sleep that good last night so I imagine I'll be out like a light tonight. I got it in my head "again" that maybe I should try "again" to take the memory foam mattress off my bed and see if a firm surface would help my body aches each morning.  For the last week or more, I've awakened to a horrible hip pain. Oddly, though, it goes away once I'm up and on my feet.  Which is fine except I don't always want to get up at 5 a.m.!   I've been experimenting to see if certain positions might help. I "think" if I lay on my back and put two pillows under my knees (and lay very still) I can sometimes drop off to sleep for another two hours.  I prefer side sleeping, however, so this isn't totally preferable.  At any rate, I woke up hurting so I dragged the memory foam back out of the closet and threw it on the bed.  I've probably done this a dozen times.  I'm stupid.

I tried drilling my beach glass with my new Dremel drill but I'm too intimidated by the loud noise and how I have to hold my finger on the piece of glass while it's under water. Doesn't seem like the safe thing to do.  Plus the old icky eye protector glasses I found in the "icky box" are too hard to see through.  For all I know they could be water goggles and not safety glasses. I probably should invest in a pair.  I'm not giving up on my beach glass crafts just yet, however. I made up a few candles using the tiny pieces and they look pretty good.  The paper plate of large pieces I have left I might try to make into a wind chime or mobile.  I think I'll end up having to use glue if I can't figure out how to tie with nylon thread.  Everything seems so difficult.  My neighbor is coming over Sunday to teach me some more about the drill.  She's very crafty and mentioned that a Dremel can be used for drilling all kinds of things -- like tile and wood and stone. Said you can make cute Christmas ornaments too.  I'll continue to look on Pinterest, Etsy, and Youtube.

Packages continue to arrive for Jen and Wayne and they'll be signing the house papers next week.  The UPS lady had a heck of a time with some of the heavier boxes and Wayne had to come over and move them to the garage.  One still sits in the hallway too.
I think it's part of a bed.  Surprised me that the kingsize bed (and others) came in boxes!  It's that memory foam stuff.

Work continues across the street and I take pictures from time to time.  Amazing to see how the work progresses.  When Jenni moves at the end of the month, I'm going to take back her bedroom and make it a combo office/sewing room. That way I can keep an eye on the construction too.
(don't forget you can click on photos to make them larger)

Jenni bought Sammy a sweater and he seems to enjoy wearing it.

Below is pics of the grandkids taken several years apart.  Time flies....

Jenni put together a new patio bench with storage for my birthday next week. She ordered herself one too.  I love it. It's made out of resin so it will hold up in the weather.
Here's another picture Maddie had taken for graduation shots. This one was at Chetzemoka Park.
I noticed my hummingbirds haven't been around lately so the bees have had a delightful time with my nectar feeders.  Decided I didn't need them buzzing right over my bench so I moved the feeders to the porch and will dump them tomorrow.
One of the daughters of my cousin Linda in Kentucky got married recently and another daughter posted pics on Facebook.
Pictured is Holly, Shelley, Nikki, Trisha (the bride) and Amanda

On the day after my birthday next week, I plan on taking a bus from downtown Port Angeles that goes straight to the Bainbridge ferry terminal. I'll walk on and Mary will pick me up and I'll stay the night. We'll travel to Kent so I can see Catie at the booth she has at the Farmers Market.  Check out her jewelry on Etsy. Search for Weinridge Jewelry.  The next day Mary will take me to Issaquah for the memorial for Ann Robson's husband, Andy, who died last month.  Then she run me back to the ferry for the final bus home.

My next outing after that will be going to Wings over Washington on the Seattle waterfront and then browsing around Pike Place Market.  Plan on taking my walking stick and hoping against hope my body will behave and let me enjoy the day.  I'm driving myself, Linda Pedersen, and Mary Norton to the Clearwater Casino to take their free shuttle to the ferry so we can walk on. Then Ann Robson will meet us downtown and we'll do the Wings ride and have lunch.  I don't get to the city much so this is a genuine outing on my schedule.  Going to take my camera too.

I'm down to the last few episodes of the final season of The Sopranos on Amazon so I'll be looking around for new things to entertain myself with.  I did add six new free channels to my Roku listing so surely I'll find something of interest.  On Youtube I came across this woman named Darlene Michaud who has videos on quilt making. She's quite funny so I subscribed to her channel and even friended her on Facebook.  I'm working on making a 'crumb quilt' right now -- using tiny pieces of leftover fabric.  I've pulled out a couple other quilt books as well as I'm getting gungho on wanting to sew again.  Must be fall coming on.

Happy Birthday today to my brother, Dana; my cousin, Ann, and my classmate Bobby Comas.

Guess I'll fix supper now. I didn't feel like cooking (as  usual) so I grabbed a bowl from the freezer and tossed it in a pan to heat. Some kind of soup I think.  Split pea maybe.
