Visiting the dog park

I picked up Jenni at 10 so we could take Sammy and Poppy over to the dog park which is in our neighborhood.  Noticed all the work she put into her new front yard decoration. So pretty.
I put a lawn chair in the car but after we arrived, I saw a few benches were in place so that was nice. One guy was there with his boxer named Oscar.  He was very excited to see "new blood."  His owner is a high school history teacher that the twins had so Jenni talked to him for a while as I kept the bench warm.

I was so disappointed when I got home to unload my pictures on the laptop and discovered I hadn't pushed the button hard enough and the video I took wasn't there.  Cute stuff too. Live and learn. Watching Sammy and Poppy at the park kind of reminded me of when I took the twins to the park when they were young. Maddie headed straight for the kids determined to make them her new friends (that's Poppy) while Sammy walked the perimeter of the fence exploring all the new nature signs and scents. (that was Hunter)

Oscar and Poppy became fast friends. And I mean fast.  Poppy (who is only a puppy) ran that boxer crazy playing tag. At one point they were running in circles around the bench I was sitting on as Oscar tried to catch Poppy. It was hopeless, though, and Poppy was grinning through the whole thing.  Oscar finally let out this little cry of exasperation and gave up.  Made us laugh.  Sammy only came around Oscar if he was standing still and would allow Sammy to smell his butt.  During one of the "catch me if you can circles" Poppy jumped over Sammy like he was running hurdles trying to get away from Oscar. Very entertaining.

The view of the mountains was an added bonus.  For a while it was just our two dogs and Oscar plus this other dog whose owner was tossing a ball for him to chase. She wasn't interested in the other dogs at all. Only play time with her owner.  When Poppy tried to get her attention, the dog barked and snapped at her making Poppy run straight for the snapping dog's owner. Actually got between her legs asking to be protected.  Like I said, entertaining.

After a while, a very large chocolate lab arrived. His name was Zeus and Poppy thought he needed to chase her too.  They had a small dog and a large dog section but when we went to the small dog side when we first arrived, Oscar stood on the other side having a cow....so we moved to the big dogs.

Poppy ran and ran and ran (like Mary said she would) and now she's fast asleep at my feet. Also, like Mary said.  She's been behaving pretty well for the most part. I had to move both my hummingbird feeders after putting in fresh nectar as they aren't high enough and Poppy thought they were delicious.
The only times she's barked is when the neighbors chickens were laying and their cackling started in. I don't think Poppy knew what that noise was.  She was also very jumpy when the wind picked up yesterday and the house would shake a bit.
