My day so far

I decided to put the foam mattress topper back on my bed this morning. I've slept on a firmer surface for two nights and just didn't sleep that well.  I have a habit of putting this foam on, taking it off, and putting it back again. Indicates I have OCD I suppose.  I like to get my "chore list" done early because I can usually count on my energy level dipping as the day progresses.  It's going on 1 pm now and I intend to take a nap when I'm done blogging here.

I did make pretty good progress earlier, though. I finished sewing a large crazy quilt and that was a chore. I tied it yesterday but at least I can sit down through most of the various steps needed.  I threw a large and a small quilt into the washer and I cleaned up the kitchen dishes.  I went online to check out Safeway's sale items that you only get if you click on them on the website. Absolutely drive me nuts as I remember when they first issued those red cards and told us we would NEVER have to cut coupons or check ads again.  Liars!

I've been wanting to go to the library for weeks but just wasn't up to the walking it would require. Today, though, I grabbed my cane and decided this was a trip I wanted to do. I always park in handicap at the library but even their handicap spots are kind of far from the door. Anyhow, I worked my way to the newspaper section to catch up on past issues of the PT Leader. I went through at least a dozen papers and found pretty much nothing of interest.  It was disappointing but then the Leader has been disappointing for over a year or more and I have no reservations now about renewing my subscription. I won't bother.

Joyce Lee showed up while I was sitting there so I invited her to the Rhody Parade next month with me and my cousin, Linda.  Linda's daughter, Holly, was trying to arrange a family picnic after the parade but was finding it too hard to find people willing to participate.  I told her family reunions are pretty much a thing of the past in our family now.  After the parade, I'll just head on home and Linda will stay in town with Holly who will take her around to see certain people she wants to visit before they head back to Kentucky.

Hunter's girl friend, Haley, came by yesterday to help me with a few chores that I needed a younger body for.  Was hoping to get a little weeding done out front but she had sandals on and it was a little damp so we planned that for another day.  From the looks of the lawn I need to get Wayne back over here pretty soon too. The grass doesn't even look like it was mowed recently.  Amazing what a day or two of rain does.

I made a quick Goodwill run to pick up an old ashtray as I'll have about five smokers visiting next month and only have one ashtray on the deck.  I couldn't believe that Goodwill only had a couple and they were $2 & $3 because they were heavy glass ones.  Stupid Goodwill!

I decided to stream in "A star is born" on my tv last night as it was only $2.99 on Amazon.  I watched it all the way but only because I love Lady Ga Ga's voice.  I can't believe that movie got an Oscar nomination and that Bradley Cooper got a best actor nomination.  The sound quality was especially horrible. Everyone mumbled and I even had my sound box attached and on.  Cooper apparently directed the movie as well.  He could have cleaned up a little. His hair looked dreadful and through the whole movie, he hung his head while speaking.  Felt like screaming at him to stand up and talk! I couldn't follow what was going on  that well because you couldn't understand the words.

It seems like a heck of a lot of movies that are nominated for awards these past years are not worth the price of a ticket. Not that I go to the movies anymore. This year I loved Roma and Bohemian Rhapsody and thought The Favourite was okay (not great though). Black Panther, BlackkKlansman, and Vice I didn't like at all. Haven't seen Green Book (which won) but I will soon as Amazon has it available to rent too. That one costs $6 or $7, though.

I'm continuing to watch The Sopranos but I'm on the last episodes of the last season so I'll have to start looking for something else. I do catch a few British shows on the Acorn channel now and again.
Well, time to turn off the television. A soap opera just came on and I can't stand to even have soaps running in the background. They're like cartoons and canned laughter. Not in the mood. Yeah I know. I sound like a crabby ole bag.  Maybe that's because I am one.  The Sopranos makes me laugh, though.  Cackle even. Sadly, what I'm laughing at most of the time is really mean and terrible stuff with bad language. The only parts that I find annoying (and boring) are the sex scenes and all the topless dancers on poles with very healthy looking boobs. ha ha

Okay. It's obvious I need a nap now.
