My sewing room is handy if I'm sitting at my machine as the ironing board is set up right next to it and set low so I can move back and forth between the two as needed. I also like that I have all my music in that room, my VCR and old movie tapes and my tv with the roku plugged in. It's a comfy little hangout for me but if I have to do any standing on my feet work like measuring and cutting, etc. I have to go to the kitchen area where I can move around more.
I really hate the quilt making steps requiring putting the backing and batting onto the top piece. About kills my back. These days, everything kills my back.
The only way I'm ever going to work my way through my material stash, though, is to keep plugging along little by little. I've said many times that my quilts will never win blue ribbons but that's okay. I figure if they'll hold up through a washing machine cycle, I'm ahead of the game. ha ha
I worked on finishing up three quilt tops today. I'll add the backing another day when I'm feeling peppy. I also found this old skirt that I always loved so I took the pleats out and am going to make a lap blanket out of it. Both sides will show giraffes and I left the top open to add some batting and then sew up. I first wore it to a class reunion in 2001.
I think it'll be kind of cute when I finish it up.
And here's the other three I added borders to. The colors don't necessarily match but I'm way beyond caring about that. If I have enough material, it gets used for a border.
This one has 640 little squares on it. I probably should have added another border color but I didn't feel like it.
Tomorrow I'm meeting Barb Shaw for lunch at 7 Cedars so I'm looking forward to that. I'm hoping my son-in-law can fix my backyard fence soon. I found another spot where the boards need hammering back in as they've separated from the post and one good push will have them on the ground. A few years ago I might have gone out there with a hammer myself but I know I couldn't manage that now. I never was that good at hammering anyway.
Watched a delightful movie on Acorn last night called Marvellous. It was a true story about this handicapped guy named Neil Baldwin and everything he accomplished. The music was terrific and they had the real Neil worked into the movie as well. The leader actor (Toby Jones) has become one of my favorites. I first noticed him in the British series called The Detectorists. About people in this club who compete to find treasures with their metal detectors. Really a good watch.
I think I'll go settle in on my recliner now and watch an episode or two of Alaska the last Frontier. Love that show although they have entirely too many commercials. Same with Life Below Zero.
Yesterday morning I clicked on this Facebook story that showed George Clooney saying he was quitting show business. As soon as I clicked on it, I realized it was a virus. This big red sign flew up telling me to call this 1-888 number for help and if I didn't or if I tried to go offline, I would be in big trouble because my computer had been compromised and even my bank account wasn't safe. I couldn't click off but since I'd been through this BS before, I didn't panic. Just hit Ctrl-Alt-Delete and shut down my computer. Damn hackers can go straight to hell!
