She suggested we cut my second blood pressure pill in half as she kind of thought it might be contributing to the edema. I'm betting she's right because the edema got really bad when I was taking 1 and 1/2 a pill a few weeks back. Some of those medications can be tricky. Like melatonin. I decided to buy a jar as my sleeping patterns have gotten kind of crappy. Wish I had read the side effects first. I hadn't really noticed any great change in sleeping so I read up on the side effects this morning. It said:
Melaltonin
side effects: headache, short-term feelings of depression, daytime sleepiness,
dizziness, stomach cramps, and irritability. Plus vivid dreams, small changes
in blood pressure, and nausea. Yep! I've had every single solitary one of them!
I was worried about how red and splotchy my lower legs often appeared after wearing support socks but apparently, that's just the way it is. She suggested I change the soap I wash the socks with (but I don't think that's an issue) and she said to cream up the legs more often. I did go to the pharmacy afterwards and buy another pair in a larger size. Man! Those dang socks are expensive! $24 a pair. Somebody's getting rich.
I decided I would go see the surgeon in Sequim who referred me to the Issaquah shoulder surgeon back in 2014. I've continued to have severe pain but only off and on. When it happens, it's a doozy of a pain. A 10! I figured since I had a complete reversal replacement, this was just something I was going to have to live with. But if I'm wrong and something can be done, I'd like to look into that as well. I'm betting he'll suggest physical therapy. (which I hate!) but we'll see. As it is I can't get in until the middle of July.
I finished sewing all my little squares together for my latest quilt but I still need to add a border to it and then complete it with batting and backing. That can be another day when I'm feeling peppier. I think I'm going to call it my Little House on the Prairie Blanket.
Saw this pic and story on Facebook today and thought it was pretty cool.
