Opened up the curtains to a nice sunny day. Even opened up the sliding glass door although I may end up putting a sweater on if I'm going to sit here in front of it as I type this blog. My circulation has certainly taken on a life of its own in my golden years. For the most part, my day is going to be spent doing leisure things ... rock painting, sewing, reading, and maybe even some tv watching even though golf is out of my grasp unless I opt to subscribe to some service that offers it. I intend to hold off for now.
My latest favorite is "Alone" which I'm seeing on the Hulu station. Originally airs on History Channel. No commercials BUT they do spend entirely too much time with repeating scenes where a commercial would be normally. You gotta' put up with what you gotta' put up with I guess. I can get pretty vocal with the contestants on this particular show. Something I have a lot of fun doing. Then I go online and read up about all of them and see more data. I finished season 2 last night and while I at first thought Dave was NOT going to make it, he did and then they did a segment showing him back home with his family. He must have been divorced as only the kids were shown. I'll have to go online to read up more --cause I'm nosy. It's really a fascinating show (if you're into this kind of entertainment --and I am).
I found another show on Netflix called Casketeers. I'm probably going to watch all episodes of that too. It takes place in New Zealand and I think the head guy is cuter than hell. I've also been watching Alaska, the last frontier. Interesting comments online about the cast. Like how one wife left her husband and that generated a whole lot of buzz from the public who all pretty much agreed he was a jackass. I think a couple of them are jackasses really.
I worked on this Sunbonnet Sue wall hanging yesterday but still have to put the backing on and some hand stitching perhaps. If I had spent a little more thought on the various materials for the dresses, I would have liked the final thing better but I just pulled colors out of my various stashes and went to work. Very tough project as you needed to reverse several of the applique pieces before ironing them on and my brain just couldn't envision which ones I needed to reverse so I had to do a lot of them over.
I think I'll try something easier for my next project although the picture of this one sure appealed to me in the book I'm using.
I gathered a few more rocks at the beach the other day and painted a few. Need to take more time with the next batch, though, and put a little more effort into making them pretty. It all depends on your mood. I came across some water painting supplies I had in a box in the garage so I'm thinking maybe I ought to give that another try. Problem is, though, I'm just not arty that way and I hate everything I create (most of the time) I'm entirely too critical but at least I know I am. Ha!
Sue came by with a sack of rhubarb for me when she got off work yesterday so I have to cut that up for the freezer to use in a cake recipe I have and maybe a pie too, if I have enough. She's been at her new job a month now and really likes it. I'm so glad.
Since my last blood draw indicated my platelet count is low, I have to see a blood guy in Sequim sometime in July. I read on google that eating pomegranates and papaya is good for platelets but I couldn't find any at Safeway. I did find some dried pomegranates so I bought that along with some juice. Man! One of those juice bottles was $6.50! I wasn't paying attention but I will rethink that idea.
I'm going to meet this college girl in PT around July 7th or so. She posted on Facebook:
Hey Port Townsend folks! I’m doing a linguistics research project and am looking for volunteer participants, specifically women over 30 years old who were born in PT. Participation would involve getting together and talking for 20 min to an hour, and then reading a passage and a word list, all of which would be recorded for my analysis. If this is something you’d be interested in or have questions about, don’t hesitate to message me and we can find a time to chat. Also, if you know of anyone who you think might fit the bill, please send them my way!
I'm trying to talk Dottie Hopkins into going with me although I'm not real sure how reading a word list can be analyzed. I need to get into town anyhow and it will be good fodder for another blog post.
Outside of a few dishes that need washing, the only chore on my to-do list today is to find and destroy cobwebs. I found a dust buster with an extended handle (that I forgot I had) so I intend to go through the house running it along walls and ceilings. I can't really see the long stringy webs but every once in a while, one will catch my eye. Usually when company is here.
And with that, I'm over and out.
