Wednesday afternoon

I've been busy all day long. That must be why I'm so dang tired. I have noticed, however, that I am not needing naps on a daily basis like I was there for months and months.  It's 5 pm right now and I am super weary but don't want to nod off this late in the day so I'll just tough it out.
Sun is shining but the wind is still blowing too. I thought we were in for a gray day as it was mighty dreary looking all morning long.
I ran to Walmart early as I need half a dozen items. Traffic was heavier than usual for that time of day so I guess the holiday is upon us.  I bought an ironing board cover and then wouldn't you know...I come home and find three old ones in my "barrel" that would probably have worked just fine. I hate it when I do stuff like that!  I threw them all in the washer on delicate so at least I'll have more than enough ironing board covers for the future.

I rearranged my sewing room again.  It's not a large room and I have certain needs that need to be filled if I'm going to be comfortable in there.  I opted to close up the card table and just put it on the single bed when I need a surface to lay things out. I should have thought of that first as it gives me a lot more floor space.  I finished a quilt top (just a small one) and ran to Joanne's to get a piece of material for the back since I didn't have anything good enough in my stash.

Maddie called and said she got the job she applied for in Ellensburg. Will leave on Tuesday to work part time at D&M Coffee as a barista. She's so excited and they are super cool about letting her hours work around school classes and her cross country training.  I had to smile when she said: I can't believe my life if finally starting.  I even have an apartment now.  She is coming back on July 17th, though, to fly to AZ with her folks for Hunter's graduation.  He'll be home for three weeks and will head back for one more session for Cummins diesel, a specialty. I think that's over in November and then he'll be home for good. Plans on living in Port Angeles.

Doctor's office in Sequim called about an hour ago to schedule me on August 1st. Introduced themselves as the oncology dept. Oh great! Just love hearing those words!  My platelet count is super low so I guess I'm going to have to go in and determine just what the heck is going on with my blood.
Damn nuisance but oh well, at 75 you can count on doctor appts pretty much being the only thing on your calendar month after month.

I bought one ear of corn to have for the 7th of July tomorrow and a watermelon. I'll end up eating the whole thing myself but it is small. I made up a bowl of potato salad today and that will be dinner tonight (and tomorrow) along with the cooked chicken I bought at Safeway. I do love those hot chickens they sell. I can make them last for three meals or more. Depending on how much of a pig I am.

Tomorrow I'm going to write that blog about "dragging the gut" downtown.  Decided I'd copy some of the stuff from my Town Kid book too.  Tonight will be some more episodes of "Alone" on the Hulu channel.  Finished up The Casketeers yesterday and just hope they make another season.

And I think that's it for this day before the 4th.
