Falling Behind on my Blog Posts

I knew it had been a while since I sat down to blog but didn't realize it was going on ten days. Not that I have anything all that interesting to relate but I'll work on it. My sister-in-law, Lill, is here right now using my sewing machine while hers is in the shop.  I've been doing computer stuff that I needed to catch up on. Some of it will have to wait until my granddaughter comes and can help me with things I don't understand. Same with my cell phone. It is always challenging me one way or another.

I'm going to start a new jigsaw puzzle that I got for my birthday from my sister. The last one I worked of Noah's Ark agitated me way too much.  Lill brought me a big ole bag of frozen blackberries so I'm thrilled that they're sitting in the freezer waiting for me to cook them up. What I'd really like to make is freezer jam but my kitchen is too tiny for doing too much and I'd have to go buy all the equipment. I'll settle for a couple pies. Yum.

My friend, Ann, came over with her boyfriend on Sunday and brought me some of her raspberry freezer jam. My very favorite.

Just got an email and a text saying I was on tv again this morning on the morning news. My daughter sent me the link and another friend sent me a link on my phone so I'll have it to review whenever I so choose.  Not that I'm all that excited about how I looked. Should have taken off my glasses 'cause the reflexion was crummy.  And the way I talk! Good Lord. My lips move around like Elvis's sneer.  And with my broken front tooth, it looked like I was toothless. Sigh.  I've always felt my voice itself sounded just like my cousin Linda. Probably because our dads are twins. I guess?

Since that report on the difficulty I was having renewing my driver's license, I guess the website is repaired now as people are telling me they're having no problem renewing. I did have a woman from the licensing office in Seattle call right after the news show and she got me a license over the phone. That was nice.

The climb up the post office steps this morning left me winded. Uh oh....that can't be good. I wonder how they get away with not having handicap access. I'd use the substation if they had one in this town but all they have is this retail mail store that charges extra for postage and mailing. It's much closer to me and easier to get inside but I hate paying extra for anything.

I picked up some D3 vitamins after leaving the post office and then came home and ordered a bottle on Amazon for a fraction of the cost. Was kind of nice to see wind and rain the last couple of days.  The sun is shining right now and I even have my window open and the fan running.  Golf is playing on tv so I'm content. Dinner tonight is spinach salad, lemon pepper salmon, grilled cabbage, carrots, and rainbow sherbet. Tomorrow looks better -- green salad, chili dog, grapes, fruit, blackberry pie alamode.

I rearranged my bedroom this week and it wasn't a walk in the park. Gonna have to remember I can't do all that moving anymore without paying for it later.  I took down my window lights and hung them in the living room. I wanted to drape them around the hanging driftwood mobile I have up but the wires were too tricky to play with and kept snagging on everything so I gave up.

I got a box of material scraps from Pam Camfield down in Corvallis yesterday and now I'm excited about getting back to my crumb quilt sewing.  I've been working on this large quilt-as-you-go quilt for my bed but the backing (from old sheets) looks pretty tacky even for me. I'll use it, though. It's not like I'll be putting it in the fair. Ha!

Two new things I want to try -- making cards using some of the many photographs I've taken over time around PT and other places. I'm going to look around and see how much cardstock costs.  I plan to give sets of blank cards for gifts and to use them myself for when I need a get well, sympathy, congrats, or happy birthday greeting.  I got one for my birthday from a friend in Port Angeles and she used a PA picture. Looked great.  I also saw some cards downtown that were going for $3.50 a piece and showed various old PT scenes. I have a lot of those but I'd have to get some reprints made too.

The other thing I want to do is post old photos on Facebook and tell the story behind it. Molly Logue has been doing this with some of her husband's childhood shots and I love to read those.  I'm hoping when my granddaughter visits, she can help me figure out how to organize my pictures on my laptop better. I've got them all over the place in way too many folders and I need to start deleting and putting them where I can find them.  It's a chore I enjoy.

Jenni came into town yesterday and took me to Bayview for lunch.   I ordered a cup of clam chowder and a side of fries.  Am eating the leftover fries now.  First time I've had to sit and wait to get a booth.  Such a shame that so many tables were having to be left empty.  I was annoyed with the acoustics in there. This foursome nearby were talking and laughing so loud I couldn't even hear Jenni talking.  She knew I was getting annoyed (hurt my ears!) and while she knows that noise is more sensitive to folks as they age, her comment to me (in fun) was "I can't wait till you lose your hearing!"  Good thing for her I get her sense of humor.

My friend, Mary who lives two blocks away will be heading back to Yuma a week from today so I'm going to have to find new people to hang with.  For the most part I'm a homebody anyhow and don't go out much. Mary and I did enjoy driving around town and taking pictures, though.  I'll continue to do that.

Saw this documentary on Prime a few nights ago called "Who are you people?" About the making of the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind" filmed in Mobile, Alabama. Showed interviews with the town people who were extras in the movie and how it affected their town which had been suffering for years from unemployment.  It was all good.

Well, I knew getting up at 6:20 this morning (bad dreams) was going to make me very tired before the day was over. I need a nap but will have to forego that since I've got company. Oh well, I'll probably sleep good tonight. I made an effort to download a new virus protection website today. My McAfee runs out next week I think and I wasn't all that thrilled with it. Now I'm using Avast and it's free.

Maddie and her boyfriend stopped in last week. He's name is Antz and he's in the air force.

I went scrolling on Facebook to see what pretty picture I could find. Here's one Gail Lee posted.

And one from Peggy Holmes.  How many can you decipher? (click to enlarge) I got a few but not many.

And that's about it for my Thursday. Not too much on my upcoming calendar except trips to Sequim to take my sister to the dentist.
