Smokey the Bear would be plenty ticked off

I'm sure glad I don't live closer to the forest and brush fires.  Definitely smells smoky in here this morning.  Apparently a transformer blew last night.  I heard this loud boom and the fire doors slammed shut. Then we lost cable and internet.  My neighbor said the doors automatically close if they're triggered by a smoke alarm.  I wasn't able to get online or use my Roku to pick up Amazon Prime tv so I pulled out a VHS tape. I've got Godfather I,II, and III and I can watch them over and over and never get bored. Thank you Frances Ford Coppola.

I've had my camera set out and ready to shoot another gold finch should one appear in my tree outside the window. So far. Nothing.  But oh well, it's  a relaxing past time bird watching. I've got a couple (maybe 3) hummingbirds who pretty much come in for breakfast, lunch, and dinner now.

A fews days ago I went for a drive up on Morgan Hill (had to return a container to Ralph Nite) and decided to look around for the flying saucer house someone had mentioned to me. Had to ask three different people out walking their dogs where it was. On Tyler but on a part of Tyler that I never knew existed. Fascinating to me to see all the huge homes tucked away EVERYWHERE in this town now. A lot of them are three stories to give them a water view.  A neighbor who is friends with a realtor said there are only 17 homes for sale in Port Townsend right now. Here's the house. Owned by the guy who owns U-Haul.

Next Sunday Mary Norton and I are going to drive by Russ Kunz house and honk a Happy 101st Birthday greeting. We plan on picking up Penny Saver sandwiches and parking at Fort Worden too.

Got a couple of scam phone calls yesterday. So happy my phone says "Scam Likely" so I don't bother to answer. This one even left a voicemail. I googled the outfit he told me to call and there were other people discussing their calls too about how they needed to settle their account. This world is just too full of bad people who walk a crooked road.

My living room is small but I'm still managing to use it for a variety of activities. Computering, sewing, jigsaw puzzles, rock painting. I've got the sewing machine set up and am working on making a large quilt to cover my bed. It's not often I make a blanket for me but I need something on my bed as the bedspread now is too small and exposes the mattress and sheets. Which doesn't really matter in the scheme of things as no one sees it  anyhow. And if they did, they couldn't care less. Ha!

Mary Gaboury is coming over in an hour so I can put some reenforcement tabs in the face masks she bought. If she's turned away, I'll have her go to the back door and come up the stairs.  Most of my guests walk on through without seeing a soul anywhere but once in a great while, someone will be told "no visitors."  Not that I have all that many people in.  I've been here six months now and have had maybe six guests. Just heard the woman below me is moving to San Juan Apts soon. That'll make five empty apartments I think.  I hope that means the door slamming I hear every day when she goes to look the doors will give me a break. She felt the "package" charged was too much and it was eating up her social security check. I kind of feel the same. I'll have to think my budget over before I decide to opt out of getting the meals.  Lots to think about.

Last week I called bingo for one of the sessions in the activity room. Ironally, all the comments mirrored the comments heard for years at the American Legion hall which I frequented for decades. Oh, the money and time I wasted.  I watched golf off and on all weekend but it was pretty boring. One guy was ahead the whole time and he wasn't particularly who I wanted to win.  I like golf more when the weather is bad and the golfers are struggling.  Or when they all make birdies every time.

Not much on my agenda this week but that's our world now.
