It's going on 6 pm as I sit here half listening to the football game. Just finished dinner -- a reuben sandwich, green salad, red grapes, and a brownie. I'll save the salad for tomorrow's lunch. At 6:20 pm 56 years ago I was right down the street from where I sit now and I had and had finished up 12 hours of labor. It was dreadful and I screamed my bloody head off. It was still St. John's Hospital then and the nuns were roaming the halls. I was 21 years old and my husband was on a ship somewhere overseas.
Moving forward....my husband is now my ex-husband and he lives two blocks down the street. haha
Small world!
I've been coughing for the last hour. Not a lot but enough for me to notice and worry. Do not like getting a cough during a pandemic. I always think I'm on death's bed. One of these days I'm gonna be there. I am stuffed up, though, so the cough is probably related to that. Post nasal drip and all. I didn't get a nap today and I am in the middle of my slump period right now. I could sleep so easily but refuse at this late hour. Too close to bedtime.
I slept horribly last night. I went to bed fairly early (tired to the bone as usual), dropped off to sleep quickly and woke up 3 or 4 hours later. Moved to the recliner at midnight and dozed there until 3 a.m. Then I tossed and turned until 6 when I moved back to the chair again. My alarm was set 'cause I had a doctor appt at 8 but I was afraid the noise might wake up my neighbor as her bedroom is right on the other side of the wall as mine. I've got to get over that. When you live in an apartment, the neighbors are going to be reminded from time to time that they live in an apartment too!
Stephanie Russ Hurd came by to pick up the 1957 annual I had so I took her picture out front.
She brought me a big ole loaf of pumpkin bread all wrapped up pretty. Come to find out her sister lives two doors down from me (where my dad and Marcella used to live). They don't speak, though. Which I get. There's a lot of that going around. My sister told me just yesterday (in a text) that I've become a crotchety old bitch and she plans to end 2020 minus one sister. Sigh.....not the first time she's disowned me. Two of my daughters told me to be the adult and text back that I loved her. So I did. (but it wasn't my first choice) hahaI made some cranberry bran muffins today but I didn't have the kind of bran that you cook so I used oatmeal. I should have ground it up first but I didn't have a grinder. I had two coffee grinders but downsized both of them thinking you could only use them for coffee. Not the first time I've missed something that I wish I had hung onto. I'm surprised the muffins turned out at all as my oven thermometer read 475-500 and I set it for 325 hoping I'd get 400. Hate that oven and hate that management couldn't care less!
Those tv sports commentators (especially one guy) seems way too excited whenever the Seahawks have something go wrong. I'd like to stick a sock in his mouth! I'm going to turn off the game and watch Amazon anyhow. I've been following Bosch and am into season 5 already.
I went to the post office this morning to mail two packages and used the back door so I wouldn't have to climb up and down the steps out front. A guy came out and helped me (very nice) and while I was waiting for my change (out of the way of traffic) the mail lady we have here came busting through the door and barked at me that "this is a dangerous area!" The way she slammed through was an indication of that. She's a very sour individual. Never smiles but always sneers at you. And she's a tattle tale. She went to the manager to say the residents weren't giving her enough space. What a snot!
I posted various class pictures from the '57 WAWA because a lot of those folks didn't have senior photos in later books. Think I'll post them here too so I'll know I always have them onfile. These are folks from the classes of 1958, '59, and '60.
I pushed myself to keep busy today. I got 8 rocks painted. Not all the way, but started; and spent an hour sewing crumb quilt pieces together. Also worked on a new puzzle. It has an edge piece missing so I'm not totally happy with it but I'll stick with it for now. Tomorrow will be much the same as today except I don't have to run any errands and I won't be baking. I saw a recipe on Facebook that I wrote down and want to try later this week. Simple biscuits
1 C. flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tstp. salt
1/2 C. milk
2 Tablesp. mayonnaise
You mix it altogether and spoon into FIVE greased muffin tins. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes.
I watched kind of a cute movie yesterday with Danny Glover called Highland Park. About this group of people who shared a lottery ticket for 12 years playing the same numbers and what happened when their numbers came in.
Well, it's 6:20 pm now. I gave birth 56 years ago AT THIS TIME! Are you excited or what?! haha
