Having a Pet

Sometimes I think I really need to get a dog but he/she wouldn't get the exercise needed and then I'd have yet another thing to feel guilty about.  I've always enjoyed reading or listening to the stories my kids tell me about their pets.  Mary had a cat back in the 90s (Midnight I think) and I loved hearing about him. Or was he a she? I don't know. Anyhow, he/she got eaten by a coyote one night and that was the end of Midnight. Mary was so depressed and sad.

My granddaughter, Catie, recently told me about the antics of her cat and how she has to take him out to poop because he won't go in the litter box.  And I've got a ton of pictures about Sammy, Jenni and Wayne's dog and I continue to follow his life.

Now Mary and Andy have Poppy and I love her just as much. My latest email from Mary said:

Poppy was driving us all crazy with extra energy so I let her out front without a leash. It saves me from having to go to the dog park. She gets to do this so rare that when she does, she goes ape-shit crazy running at warp speed through the neighborhood. This goes on for about 15 minutes and she won’t return unless I close the garage door and go inside. She panics and comes running. Haha.  Now she’s passed out cuz she wore herself out.

Oh Poppy. I win.

Jake got a Christmas gift from his aunt and uncle in Pennsylvania called an Advent Calendar. Mary wrote:
Chrissie sent Jake a military men advent calendar. He gets to open a new “door” every day until Christmas that gives him a army guy or jeep or gun or the like. He is sooo happy and finally got to open a door today. Nothing says Christmas like toy army guys. Hahaha

What a neat idea. Mary says you can type in "advent calendar for adults" to see more options.

It's almost noon and I've managed to get my to-do list almost completed. Just have to retrieve the laundry from the dryer down the hall and wash up a few dishes. Then it's back to rock painting and my jigsaw puzzle that already is losing favor with me as it has an edge piece missing.

My allergies seem to be flaring a bit today as I'm sneezing and stuffed up and feel rather icky poo!  My left eye is red and itchy but I suspect that is psoriasis flaring. It never ends. I wonder if I'll ever have a day again where I wake up refreshed and peppy and with nothing hurting.
