Ten Days 'till Thanksgiving

Sitting here playing around with my blog as I wanted a change in how it looked. Still couldn't get it exactly how I wanted it but it'll do for now.  It's noon already and the rain has been coming down steadily.  I made a quick run to the UPS Store to mail back an Amazon package I didn't need. Love how easy that is. And for some reason, I didn't realize how I could be mailing my packages via UPS if I didn't want to climb those steep post office steps or stand on the back porch freezing waiting for the clerk to come and get my stuff.  I don't know if the prices are comparable but they couldn't be any worse than what the post office charges, and lately the post office deliveries are really slow.

I had this shoebox with clothing in it to mail and the price was $14. That was more than I paid for the contents so I opted to buy a large bubble envelope and bring the package home to repack. I'm betting the shipping cost will be less when I go back tomorrow. But if not, well...I'll just think twice before I ship anything.  I left there and went to Don's Pharmacy to buy some scotch tape. The prices at the UPS store seemed too high. So was the envelope. The tape at Don's was a way better price and they had the envelopes too and they were HALF price of what UPS was charging. I've got to remember to always check Don's first when I need something.

I drove home and discovered the manager and all her crew are in her office having a meeting. I know what that means. Notices will be tacked on our doors and signs will go up everywhere telling us where we can go and where we can't go.  I felt sorry for this poor lady who was standing at the closed office door with her walker. She's new here and needed some help on how to arrange transportation.  She's down the hall from me so I told her on the way up in the elevator who she needed to talk to (the ambassador here) if she has any questions about what is what.  She should have been instructed in all this stuff when she signed the lease but I discovered the manager doesn't always bother with details.  As it is, I just discovered after eight months how I had two switches under the range top lid that allowed me to have a fan and/or light over the cooking area. I had no idea they were there until I saw the neighbor switch hers on.  I remember when I moved in that I couldn't figure out how the blinds opened and I couldn't get the windows open. I saw a kitchen helper in the hall and asked her to help me but she was hesitant as she had been told she can't go in anybody's apartment.  That's just stupid.

The manager's office door is always closed and the blinds are also always closed. A sign on the door reads DO NOT COME IN!  Oh brother!  And if you call, you NEVER get a pick up. You have to leave a message and wait for a return call.  Well, I could go on and on about some of the things I've noticed but I guess I'm just going to have to learn to live with it.  Which I can do ....'cause I have a blog I can pour all my frustations out on. Ha!

Damn pandemic!  Damn Chinese labs!  Damn Trump!  I guess I'm g..oing to spend Thanksgiving here in the apartment now. Mary and Andy have opted to not travel to the peninsula right now so I'll have to hope Christmas is better.  I am thankful I don't have to worry about fixing meals, even though some of the meals aren't worth writing home about.

A neighbor lady gave me two quarts of cranberries so I intend to make some muffins and breads this week. Always a challenge with the good for nothing oven in this place.

A few days ago I got a new neighbor on my bedroom side. Come to find out, we worked together in the 1980s at the mill. Haven't had a chance to visit with her yet as new people are told to quarantine for two weeks when they move in.

I set up my card table in the living room so I could start a new jigsaw puzzle and brought my sewing machine out to the living room/kitchen counter so I can sew away on crumb quilt pieces and still watch tv.  I've got a couple other little projects to play around with too so I'll keep busy as I stay home.  It's not really that big a deal for me as I've always been a homebody and if I want to go out, I've got my car so I can buzz around town and take pictures if I feel like it. And of course, I don't take the fact that I've got a laptop for granted either. It pretty much keeps me in touch with the world.

changed the direction of my sewing table in the bedroom as I just can't seem to help myself when I'm trying to find more space I can use.  Some of my pants are in that blue bin and they're much easier to access now. I had them under the card table and I'd have to pull and push everytime I wanted into it. I'm way too delicate for that.  haha

Here's a picture Mary took of Jake recently. He'll be seven next month. Time flies.

And here's one of Poppy who is hiding from Mary 'cause she got in trouble for eating one of my Christmas gifts. A sponge on a handle that you can add detergent too.  haha

And this Christmas cactus of Ann Marie Fountain's is worth a showing.....so beautiful.

And last but not least, a photo of downtown PT I saw on Facebook.
