It's 11:34 a.m. and I just finished a quick trip to Safeway and a stop at my sister's to pick up the bag of stuffing I forgot yesterday. I'm going to make one of those snakes you put to stop door drafts. I don't have a draft but I can see light coming in under the door when I wake up at night and I sometimes smell the cooking of other residents. Popcorn can be a real annoyance. And burnt food!
I woke up at 5 and again at 6 but didn't stay up even though I felt completely rested. When I got up at 7:30, I felt icky poo! Tired, stuffed up head, and all my joints hurt. Wonder why that is. I get the joints thing; they hurt most of the time anyhow but I can't understand why I'm so groggy and out of it. I went to bed at 9 and couldn't get under the covers quick enough 'cause I was bone tired.
I sat down and typed up all my thank you cards yesterday and this morning I stuffed them in envelopes and mailed off in the mail slot downstairs. Used my new postage meter a couple times and that was fun. You gotta get your kicks where you can. I tried to figure out how to set margins so I could get the printing area glued inside a card. I never did get the printer to do exactly what I wanted so I'm going to have to play around with it. As it was, the printer wasn't in the mood and I had to unjam paper a couple of times. It doens't usually do that so I was surprised -- and annoyed, of course.
The Pioneer Woman is on tv now. Her voice gets on my nerves sometimes but I do love watching her cook. You'd need a bit of money and a super good kitchen to turn out all the stuff she does but then that's how cooking shows are for the most part. I love all the neat electrical gadgets she has at her disposal.
The maintence guy came and fixed two things I had put in a work order on. One electrical outlet wasn't working and the bathroom light switch was too wiggly. I got out the ingredients to make cranberry/banana muffins and that is about the only chore I have left today. I hope my oven cooperates as I want to save them in the freezer.
After I got back from Safeway I got the lining to my coat out and zipped it in. That wind went right through me. I like wearing the coat without it as it zips up easier. Time to go on a diet. And how many times have I said that in my life? Tomorrow or maybe this weekend I'll start putting away all the Christmas decorations. It shouldn't take more than a half hour, if that.
I'm going to look on Amazon and see if I can't find me a knitted hat that feels comfortable on my head and won't blow off. My baseball caps just won't do the trick in this windy weather. I had a couple hats but they must have got lost in the move and the one I have is really pretty and cute but it makes me hot too fast. Course I've always been hot. haha
I know how to knit and crochet but only simple things like an afghan or neck scarf. I never mastered hats. I almost bought a Seahawks one at Safeway but it was $10 and I wanted to price them elsewhere. I stopped to pick up a lotto ticket and hit 5 because I'm hoping this is my lucky week. I won $30 on lotto a couple days ago. One more number and it would have been a thousand.
My neighbor, Christina (who I knew from my office days at the mill back in the 90s) moved out yesterday. Place didn't suit her. Wish I could have talked with her more to find out exactly what she found unacceptable. I can guess.
I got two or three jigsaw puzzles for Christmas so I think I'll set one out today. Always fun to have a puzzle waiting for me. Well, my sister just texted me the mini washing machine she wants me to order on Amazon for her. She uses her own credit card, of course, but my prime membership. She wants to use it for underwear, socks, and masks. I'm going to see how it works for her and if it's really worth it, I might get myself one. That laundry room can get pricey if you need to wash and dry. I have a folding wood rack I can use (set up in my shower) so sometimes I can bypass the dryer charges. They irritate me beyond words anyhow. You pay $1.50 for 60 minutes yet your clothes are dry in 30 minutes so that's just money in their pocket.
Next week I think I'll head up to the library to show my ID and pick up my new card. You can order online and they'll deliver to the door. I want to find a couple books on tape to listen to in bed at night for those times I can't drop off to sleep.
I hope I get the mail today that I've been looking for way too long. I ordered six reprints from Shutterfly online Dec. 17. They usually just show up in my mailbox. When I went to track the package, it said they went UPS and were sitting at the PT office to head out on the 22nd. So where are they?
I repaired my old 1956 Betty Crocker cookbook this morning. It's seen a long life but continues to hang in there thanks to scotch tape. Mary Gaboury called me yesterday and said she's gonna be a great grandmother for the second time come July. Also said the MRI she got on her shoulder shows several things wrong. I bet she ends up needing surgery. She's been in a lot of pain for a long time.
Well, guess I'll call my cousin in Kentucky to say Happy Birthday and see about whipping up those muffins.
