Gees, it's almost Christmas. I made a quick run this morning to take some goodies to my sister and two cousins. Sis wasn't up yet so I left hers on her doorstep outside her apartment. Cousin Bill was watching the Seahawks and we shared stories of how our hips are killing us.
I was trying to remember if we had any kind of get together after our Grandpa Gene died in September of 1960. I do recall Bill and I sat together in the back and even held hands at one point when all the older relatives were crying. It was upsetting for both of us. He couldn't remember a gathering after; I couldn't either. Stopped by Lee and Elaine's but I had recently gotten a picture of them so I didn't take one today. Did get one of Teresa but she forgot to open her eyes! hahaI intended to head right back home as I wanted to watch the game but I did swing by my old place on San Juan as it's always interesting to see the changes over the years. I hadn't noticed the back porch before although when I got home and looked at my files on my computer, I had taken pictures of that porch earlier. Just love my memory. Here's some before and after shots. You can tell when we lived there. haha
I love to see how the old tree looks in different seasons too.
As I drove up 20th, I stopped to take a shot of the backyards of Partee's old cabins. Here's how they looked in the 1980's (from a distance) and how they look today. We NEVER had deer coming into the yard. Too many kids around.
It amazed me, as usual, when I slowly drove around some of the side roads in my old stomping grounds to see all the large homes on what used to be vacant lots and bushes and brush. It's always a walk down memory lane and I always wish I had more pictures of how the lots used to look. But who would think to be taking pictures of that back in the day? Not me, that's for sure.
I baked a lot of mini loaves of bread yesterday. Banana nut. Also a pan of fudge, which I've already cut into small pieces and wrapped up individually to store in the refrigerator. I had two pieces last night and that will do it for my sweet tooth this year. Going to give the rest of it away and I probably won't make fudge again until next Christmas season.
I've got a sink full of dishes waiting to be washed so I guess I'll get with it so I can loaf the rest of the day.
