It's 10 a.m. and I managed to get out and get two errands done early. I was in terrible shape yesterday as my hip bursitis was raging and I was miserable. I went to bed before 7 and woke up at midnight with my knee stiff, sore, and making me very unhappy. I got up and took a Naproxen and rubbed the knee with my pot cream. Went back to bed and this morning --- WA LAA! I'm fine. So curious why those up and down episodes appear but I'll take the painfree day I'm having so far.
I returned a package from Amazon at the UPS store. Love how easy that is, and then decided spur of the minute to stop at Safeway on the way home. I often put off shopping depending on what my body is acting like. I felt pretty chipper this a.m. so I ended up browsing (something I NEVER do these days) and I spent $50. I was low or out of a number of things. Came home and decided I'd better go upstairs and get my little push cart as my purchases were way too heavy to carry in one load.
No specific plans for today. Will give my 15 rocks a coat of white paint on the flip side of what I did yesterday. Always kind of fun to have some rocks set out and waiting for me. I finished a small lap quilt yesterday. Nothing fancy but I had a supply of odds and end quilt pieces just laying around and wanted to use them up. It turned out looking way better than I would have thought.
Two of my challenges this week is my bathroom sink plug and my electric recliner. Neither problem, I suspect, is going to be solved as I looked them up on Youtube and the directions seemed too hard to mess with. The chair has a remote that lets the leg rest go up and down. Which I love. It goes down easily but I have to push the button down and hold it securely to make it rise. It's still working but I have a feeling it might need adjustment and I'm too afraid to try and take the back off. Mary is coming to visit me tomorrow and she's always very brave about jumping into anything like that so I'll have her look at it. My bathroom sink plug works fine but even though I've given it drain rinses with vinegar and baking soda it still runs too slow to suit me and I think I need to stick this little gadget I have down there to pull out gunk. I can't get the plug out, though, and am afraid to try as I did it in my P.A. house and we could never get it back together again. I know. My problems seem to weeny oriented. hahaDoes Donald Trump really eat two big Macs and two filet of fish in one meal, and if so, how often and why when he could afford to get food that is way better quality?
Trump's eating habits aren't much different than many on
Forbe's list: Warren Buffett is always on top of the list. He loves soda (6-7
daily), McDonald's, and eats vegetables only when forced. If he has a good
trading morning he breaks with eggs, bacon, and potatoes. John Stumpf, a former
Wells Fargo CEO, once described a meal they had together as a snowstorm because
Buffet used so much salt. Elon Musk claimed to only spend $1 a day on food when
he was younger. Purposely eating hot dogs and pasta. Peppers were also a
mainstay in his diet. He once said he would rather eat tasty food and live a
shorter life than tolerate a bland diet. This wasn't a learned behavior for him
as his mother was a registered dietitian.
Bill Gates told a group of high school students he started
his day with Cocoa Puffs. Lunch was cheeseburgers and diet coke. In the early
days of Microsoft, someone would pick up bags of McDee's for the staff to eat
while pushing through the day. Today he prefers In-N-Out burgers. I don't think
any of these guys see food as a pleasurable experience, but rather fuel to keep
them going for what drives them, including Trump.
Note: To clarify I wasn't implying that these men never eat
a great meal. My point; when they are completely absorbed in a project, food
becomes fuel to keep them going, fast and easy. Another note:
Steve Jobs, a co-founder of Apple, became a fruitarian, a
diet where he only ate fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and cereals. Jobs
thought the diet canceled body odor, so he did not need to wear deodorant or
shower regularly. Jobs fasted to 'create feelings of euphoria and ecstasy.'
