Back Home Again

My day has started kind of rocky but it's leveling out better now. It's 8:42 a.m. and I'm expecting the rest of the day to be nice to me. I attempted to fill my little vitamin/prescription cups and couldn't find my two prescription bottles anywhere so I tore the apartment apart as well as my car. Then I went through every bag I owned and every pocket. Oh, and the garbage too. Once I started looking in the really stupid places, I decided I'd better give it up and call the pharmacy. While on hold, my granddaughter called and said she found them (at Mary and Andy's house). They'll mail them off today I hope.

Yesterday I tried to make an appt. with a new doctor since mine is leaving this week. The one PA I saw recently is also no longer available 'cause she's leaving too. The woman on the phone told me to try the clinic across the street and gave me the name of three doctors over there. This was after she made an appt with one of her doctors there but I was told I couldn't see her until Dec. 5th. What a bunch of baloney! I called the new place but had no expectations. Much to my surprise, however, I got an appt for July 5th. No women doctors available so I'll have to make do with a dude. Just hope he's nice. That's one of the problems with changing doctors; you just never know what you're gonna get. I had one doctor in this particular clinic last year but didn't care for him so I switched.  I had to wait months to get into the new doctor and then she turns around and decides to move to Silverdale.  Dr. Google and I have become close friends.

While searching my car for the pills, I discovered that my glove box door won't close. Jenni was having problems with it a couple days ago but now it's even worse. I'm hoping the guy down the hall will take a look at it for me.  Am waiting for a call from OlyCap to sign up for free tokens at the farmers market this summer. Also plan on signing up for this other free program for food. I know I'm within the income requirements -- meaning I'm on the poor side. And with grocery prices going up and up, you have to take advantage of whatever programs you can find.

I've got various projects on my list for June. Today I'm making some picture postcards using old photos in my collection. I had found an old scrap book that had several blank pages in the back so I cut them up yesterday and that should work nicely. Couldn't believe the price of postcards went from 25 cents to 79 cents!  I've also set up a new jigsaw puzzle (of hummingbirds) so that should keep me busy. Sewing-wise, I have a dozen quilt tops that need to be made into quilts with batting and backing material. That will take me a while as I'm not that good at that part of quilt making and it's hard on your back too.  I've got a large bag of crumb pieces all cut and ready for me to strip sew them together as I make crumb quilt squares so I'm all set for hobbies for a while.  Oh, and I have a new collection of North Beach rocks all waiting for me in the closet so I'll get to painting them this summer too.

My sister came over yesterday and we ordered her a bed in a box mattress. It should be delivered next week and her son will help her get it on her bed and haul away the old one.  Mary Gaboury came over for breakfast yesterday and we ordered an electric blanket on Amazon as her husband is always cold. I'm thinking I might order a CD today. Found this guy called JJ Cale that I really like.

I drove both ways when Jen and I went to Vancouver, WA to stay with Mary while she had brain surgery.  I was a nervous wreck because I don't do interstate driving enough to feel comfortable with it but I did just fine and only got honked at once!  haha  We left Monday morning at 7 a.m. hoping the Memorial Day traffic would be light and it was fine. Tiring trip, though; Took me a couple days to get my energy level back and I sure slept hard that first night. I'll attach some of the pictures I took while there but they won't be in any particular order as I'm just pulling them from my photo folder in my documents. They've also already been posted on Facebook so if you go to that site, these are nothing new to you.

Two of Jake's neighborhood friends came over to play. We went to one of his football games on Saturday but the photo card wasn't in  my camera so everything I took was not available. Darn it!
This picture of Poppy was actually one where she was rolling all over the carpet to dry herself off as she had rolled in something and Andy had to hose her off.

Here's another one of Poppy taken after I left. Catie had to give her a regular bath as the hosing off didn't take and she still stunk to high heaven.

This is the Saturday before Mary went in for surgery. Jen, Mary, and I went to the dog park. It was 5 acres so I mainly just sat and watched.
Burgerville was a place Jenni and I hit one day when we were out shopping. They're all over in Oregon and their prices are WONDERFUL.  The food is quite tasty too.
We had hamburgers and potato salad on their deck the first night there. Workmen were busy for a time building a new deck over the patio. They put those trellis' up the next day.
Shari Glessing was in Vancouver visiting her son so she came over to visit Mary too. Catie had recently arrived to stay with Mary for the week after Jen and I came home.

We went to a Mexican restaurant for Andy's birthday and they brought him a special little cake and sang a song.
