Up early today

It's 2 pm and I've been keeping myself busy since 5 a.m.  I went to bed last night thinking about what all I wanted to rearrange in this apartment today.  I do enjoy making my home a new home.  Always have. I probably did a little more than I should have since sciatica has been on the scene for over a week now and my hip and low back are also not treating me well. Story of my life these days.  Most of my body problems seem to be from the waist down.  IBS has been mistreating me for years but I'm accepting that there are going to be days when I just plain can't go anywhere or have the energy to do anything.  If IBS is acting up AND my sciatica is also visiting, I am one unhappy chick!  But you deal with what you gotta' deal with and move on.

I'm seeing a new doctor July 5th and will go in with my questions in hand and hope to hell he will let me talk about more than one issue.  It's difficult to get anyone to listen anymore. I'll at least have my questions typed up and most are just quickie answers I need that I can't find on Google.  Like my middle finger of my right hand. The top joint is hurting anytime I use that finger for anything. It doesn't hurt unless I'm doing something that puts even slight pressure on it. It's not swollen so I don't know if it's arthritis or what?  I had been diagnosed with carpal tunnel last year but I didn't see the doctor because of middle finger pain. He suggested an operation then but I didn't feel it was that necessary.I'm also a tad fed up with the feet neuropathy that seems to have gotten worse this year. Walking is always painful what with the hip and legs acting up but when the feet join in too, it gets to be a bit much. Everything I've read about all my little aches and pains invariably has "diabetes" as a possible problem. I have been diagnosed with prediabetes whatever the hell that is. I think it means my numbers are getting up there and if I don't get my act together and eat better and exercise more then diabetes will be put on my chart. Groan!  It could just be I need to be told outright that yes, you are diabetic and now you better do something about it.

I took a couple of chicken legs out of the freezer to cook in the air fryer for dinner along with mashed potatoes. My "cooking' neighbor down the hall just texted me she's bringing me spaghetti for supper so yippee yi yo! I don't have to cook afterall.  I do have some cookie dough half prepared to bake up a couple sheets later. It's a challenge using the stupid good for nothing stove in this place but when you need a cookie, you need a cookie!

The manager and I are at odds again. We'll always be at odds because I don't care for the woman. Never have. We've been fairly amicable these past months but then I avoid her most of the time and only nod hello if I pass her in the hall.  She's a royal pain in the ass.  Last year the maintenance guy started painting some of the hallway walls. Then he quit 1/3 of the way through yet he tore off all the molding near the floor and we've had to look at that for a year.

Yesterday I saw him and the manager taking a cell phone picture of my window. Pretty soon they both appeared at my door to tell me I had to take down my hummingbird feeder because the sugar water was ruining the siding and the handyman was going to have to clean it.
It doesn't seem to matter that the trees and bushes pretty much cover that area and no one hardly ever even uses the patio anyway.  I said okay and after they left, I thought about how they were so eager to tell me to take down (what obviously I've been enjoying) but yet the hallways go unchecked for months on end. I decided to go look for them and found them outside. We got into it about the molding not being completed and let's just say, I wasn't particularly pleasant.  She went on and on about how busy he was so I told her to hire someone then. That didn't sit well with either of them. She said she couldn't afford it and that the carpets took a while to get installed too. So I told her the carpets looked like shit. And yes, I said those words.  There's no excuse for letting that area look so shabby for so long. And I kind of doubt that money has anything to do with it as she's raised the "package" price to either $710 a month or $725. I forget. Meanwhile, she's changed breakfast to a continental breakfast with dinner being served at 1:30 and then a person can ladle up a bowl of soup at 5:30 if they're hungry.  And the portions for the meals are measly.  What a racket!  They could save so much money if they would cook meals instead of ordering the fast food stuff they have delivered in.   And they sure don't put themselves out as far as portions.  So glad I'm off the package.

My daughter, Mary, is off to Vegas today with her girl friends. I hope they have fun and I know they probably will. Here's her and Candi on the plane.
Mary Gaboury and I went out to Fort Flagler  a couple days ago to visit a classmate (Ann Robson) who was camping with her boyfriend. He taught me how to block calls on my phone and I was so delighted as I had been hounded by this one particular insurance guy who was deliberately calling me six times a day.

l got signed up for these two free food programs. One delivers a box of food once a month (canned goods mostly( but there was a half gallon of OJ, some milk, dry cereal, rice, macaroni, and other stuff. I cleaned out my pantry shelf and put the canned goods on a shelf in the hall closet. I also received $80 worth of coupons to use at the farmers market uptown on Saturdays. That runs through October so my neighbor and I (who also got coupons) are going up there Saturday morning.

My brother and his wife stopped in yesterday and I walked over to Avamere next door with them so I could see their apartment. I think they're going to try and move in next month sometime. He's got a nice little balcony to sit out on and has a peekaboo view of the water too.

This is the living room and that door on the right goes to the balcony terrace.

I think I'm going to have to take a little nap because I want to watch this show on FX tonight (via Hulu) called The Old Man. Stars Jeff Bridges and John Lithgow and boy, is it ever good. I've seen two episodes so far.

I went through my quilt tops today to measure each one so I can figure out how much material I need for batting and backing. Going to take me a while to finish all nine of them but that's my plan. Small steps.  The one quilt I'm working on right now is the 6" sqs of crumbs I've been sewing together for weeks. I've got three strips sewn together but will take my time putting all 11 rows together to make TEN quilts I'll need to finish. This one will really be colorful.

I've got all four of my fans out and ready for the hot weather we're suppose to get this weekend.  Usually Port Townsend doesn't get as hot as Seattle does and I hope that's the case this week too.

I guess I could post the pictures I took at alumni a couple weeks back. I put them on Facebook but I know not everybody goes to that website. I don't have names to go with the pics. Too much work. Maybe I'll make a second blog post and put them up there.
