It's almost noontime and I'm sitting here with a grilled cheese sandwich, iced coffee, and a small bowl of cherries that I picked up at QFC yesterday. I felt like a hot breakfast so I fixed two small pancakes and cooked two link sausages in the air fryer. Had half a cup of coffee and an OJ too. Did my usual computer surfing, worked the crossword and wordle and played two games of solitaire.
Then I decided to get done what I was determined to do on my to-do list today. I finished the last quilt that I had stored in a bin. Needed backing and batting and hemming. Always a chore for me as my techniques are patterned after my lazy way of doing things 'cause I want it done and over with. I put it away in a bin with the other three and will pull them out when I need a gift to give. I did ten quilts altogether and now I'm ready to do easier projects.
I sat down and worked on my bins of material. Needed to go through them and see what was in there, what I could put on the giveaway table in the laundry room, and what I could just plain toss. The garbage got very little but at least my bins are consolidated and neater now. I've got one (maybe two?) bins just full of crumb pieces and I intend to work on them little by little to thin them down and get a stack of squares set aside for future use.
All that work kind of wore me out so I think I'll put off doing anymore sewing until tomorrow. Now I'll work on my jigsaw puzzle, my counted cross stitch, and there's always books to read. I signed up again for the weekly delivery of free food and my large grocery sack came yesterday. One pkg of thin sandwich bread, a half gallon of milk, and 7 tv dinners. I gave two to the guy down the hall. I think I'll have one for dinner tonight. Makes it nice and easy.
I'm watching various shows on Apple TV. It's only $5 a month and I've been following See and Loot. Watching The Split on Hulu too. Dana and Lill got moved in a couple days ago so now two of my siblings live nearby. I got to thinking about all my first cousins (and siblings) and how most of them moved away sooner or later yet some came home again too. I'll have to write a story about that. I'm in the mood for researching genealogy again and these little side projects keep me amused.
Just looked over my calendar of future events. Man, is it ever pathetic! I have a doctor appt Aug. 2 with a hand/wrist guy and I'll probably end up needing carpal tunnel surgery. I'll hit the county fair Aug. 12 weekend (might even sign up to work the alumni booth) but otherwise, I've got a clean slate. That's why I print out my daughter Mary's schedule. Not only does it help me keep track of where she is, it's totally more interesting than my life. This weekend her and Andy are taking Jake to spend the weekend with his cousin, Catie and her husband in Kent. The next weekend he goes to church camp and on July 18 they've got a trip planned to the ocean and will ride ATVs. July 22 is a PT trip (scheduled so far) and July 25 is a sports camp for Jake. Some time in August, they might get to the top of a wait list so they can attend a paint ball camp. Aug. 5 is the Clark Co Fair (they're in Vancouver) and Aug. 18 they're heading to Idaho for a wedding. (David Glessing). Then school starts Aug 30 and Mary will start substituting again.
Here's a neat picture I saw on FB. People volunteering to sit with dogs in kennels during the 4th of July fireworks noise.
And I took a second look at this on Facebook too. A list of places to visit in the US. Said most people have only seen 5. I can't remember for sure but I think I've seen 13 of them. That's thanks to Mary who took me traveling before she married and when I traveled with my dad and Marcella when they went back east in 1977.
