Feeling a lot better after the doctor visit I had this afternoon with the orthopedic guy. I've been to him before and he's very nice. He gave me a cortisone shot in my hip (said it was bursitis) and I'm hoping I'll be able to start walking better, although it might take a week. Learned a few other interesting facts too. He had me get hip x-rays before the appt and he says my hips look good with little or no arthritis but.... my back isn't good. I knew that. Been bothered for years. He says I have Spondylolisthesis of lumbar spine. Suggested I get an MRI and go to Swedish in Seattle for consultation. I told him I wasn't fond of MRIs and since I'm already old, can't I just live with it? He said physical therapy can help it from getting worse so he suggested I go to the one in Hadlock since Port Townsend's p/t appts are way out there in the future. I'm fine with that. If I can just be instructed on what to do at home, I will definitely put in the work. I know I don't want to go to Seattle and I don't want surgery on my back. And I hate MRIs. They scare me.
He also told me the sore middle finger of my right hand that has been bothering me and the numbness of my left hand is related to carpal tunnel syndrome. I had seen a carpal guy last year and he told me then I probably should get it fixed. I wasn't in any particular pain however, so I opted to let it go for a while. I'm still not in hand pain but the numbness is interfering with my life a lot. He also told me the numbness in my feet is because of my back, not because I need to put insoles in my shoes like that jackass told me yesterday. I will see the hand surgeon (here in PT) next month and will go back to my orthopedic guy next January to get more x-rays to see if the back has gotten worse. THEN I'll decide if I really want to go the surgery route. If the pain gets to be too much, then I'll change my mind.
My mood has improved considerably after my appt. yesterday with that doctor I didn't care for. I will get my new doctor established in Dec. That's how long I had to wait to get in. I went to Safeway and bought some comfort foods. That's probably contributing to my good mood too. Ha!
I've got a Costco lasagna in the oven and will make up a salad to go along with it. It's half a lasagna really but I can get a couple meals out of it. The rest of my July calendar is empty. Just the way I like it.
I subscribed to Apple TV last night as it's only $5 a month and I wasn't finding much of interest on the other channels I stream. I watched the first episode of this sci fi show called SEE. I don't usually go in for those but this one was pretty darn good. I also watched a comedy called Loot with Maya Rudolph. She's always cracked me up.
I finished a small quilt this morning but it gave me a lot of problems and I wasn't in the mood for fixing it correctly so I just sewed it up and threw it in my car to be my car quilt. It's just a small one and probably the worst sewing job I've ever done. Not the quilt itself so much as the border. I wasn't about to throw it in the trash, though.
Saw three people at Safeway I knew and talked to them all -- Shiner Goodrich, Bonnie Schoenman, and Bruce McComas.
My grandson, Hunter, is having a bad week. He had a crash on a dirt bike and ended up in surgery to remove the finger tip that got infected. I feel so bad for him.
It's been a halfway productive day for me. Always glad to get doctor appts out of the way. I also did a load of laundry, started work on a new jigsaw puzzle, and finished a quilt. Even if it was a horrible mess. I've only got one left in the bin to put together and then I can start playing around with smaller projects. Might start rock painting too.
