Apartment Living

My sister just called to tell me they found a dead body in her apt. house.  Apparently, the lady above this guy had been complaining for days about the smell. She kept cleaning and couldn't figure out where it was coming from. By the time the manager went in to check, she discovered the body and called the police. Because he had laid dead in there for a week during our hot spell, the smell was HORRIBLE. Cop cars came and personnel were suiting up in Hazmat suits. Manager went to get some fans but my sister thinks the lady above won't be able to even live in her apt because of the odor. The guy lives at the other end of the building of my sister and she can smell the odor real bad from her place.  So sad.

We have one lady down the hall from me who has been having health problems and has finally given in to moving into assisted living section of Avamere next door.  Getting old and being alone is a tough road to walk.

I spent the better part of today sewing. I've come to the conclusion that my sewing ability is never going to satisfy me. I made two quilt squares things today. A table runner and a table top. Both are very pretty BUT they both look like shit!  Sigh....

My sister suggested I put some of my stuff in the fair next week. It hadn't occurred to me to do that as I haven't entered the fair in several years. I'm thinking about it though. I figure if I can take my walker, I'll be okay to have to stand in line.  I don't know how many things in one category you can enter so I'll just take a bunch and ask when I get there.  I've got a couple small quilts that might be okay, and a couple wall quilts that are adequate. Also have some counted cross stitch designs that I just framed and there's always my painted rock collection.

Kind of looking forward to the fair, if for no other reason to see if they have new booths to visit and lots of exhibits.  Seems like the last time I went, entries were way down. I know the alumni assn decided not to have a booth this year but maybe other outfits will.  And I'll have fun just taking pictures and seeing who I can see.

I woke up at 5 a.m. yesterday with severe diarrhea.  Not my usual IBS issue that flares now and again. This was heavy duty just kill me now diarrhea.  I wondered if I had eaten something bad because I was fine when I went to bed. Later I went on Google to read up on magnesium tablets. I had taken two that day because I've been having nasty foot and toe cramps at night and I thought maybe my potassium and magnesium levels were low.  I'm thinking now, however, that these cramps are just something old people get.  I'm not usually bothered more than one or two nights but these keep happening. Makes for a real bad night as I transfer to the recliner and then back to my bed again.  Anyhow, Google said magnesium tablets can give you severe diarrhea and abdominal cramping and pain.  Hmmmm...well, that must be the culprit then.  Damn it!  I don't always take my magnesium because it's a big ole honker pill and difficult to swallow. I think from now on I'll cut it in half and take one every other day.  Before I read about it on Google, I thought it must be dairy products so I took the ice cream I had in the freezer (about a quart) and took it down the hall to Ron who I often give baked goods too. He loves to see me coming. haha  I told him:  Here!  I had three hours of diarrhea this morning and I'm giving up ice cream--again!  Which is an absolute lie but I am going to at least try.

Well, it's only 7 pm but I think I'll get my jammies on and settle down to watch another episode of ALONE.  I can't seem to get enough of watching people suffer in the cold weather in the woods. Tomorrow I'm letting the sewing machine sit and I just might let it sit for days. I've got a jigsaw puzzle in the works and a big ole stack of books next to my chair. A new one came today. Well, it's a new used one. Saw it on Ebay and had just read about how good it is. Biography of Robert Mitchum. Who I have always loved.

Lady downstairs had her smoke alarm pinging and it was driving her little dog bananas so she came upstairs to see if anyone could help her. It's slim picking in this building of who is able to get up on a stool and do stuff like that. I loaned her the step ladder I had because it's a really good strong one and a guy down the hall went to put in a new battery. Which I also had on hand. Sometimes that's the only way you get to know your neighbors.

Jenni went down to visit Mary in Vancouver Tuesday and they went to get pedicures.

And here's my latest cousin in Gig Harbor laying on the quilt I sent his grandmother. Gonna be a while for him to grow into it. He's so tiny.
