Trying to stay cool

My plan was to do a little sewing today but it quickly got too dang hot in here and monkeying around with the iron and various up and down trips to look for material made me too hot to stay interested. I put on my sun dress (which never really goes out in the sun) as it's strictly for me to wear inside when I'm HOT!

First order of business, though, was to set out my fans (four of them) in order to make the living room more friendly.  I sure am thankful my windows face north so I'm not dealing with the sun coming up or going down.  The living room will be okay if I don't do anything too physical. I have a jigsaw puzzle in process and a pile of books to read too so along with TV, that'll do the trick. My laptop is in here in my bedroom and I've got a small fan that plugs into the laptop and hits me in the face as I type. Perfect. I'm sitting here eating lunch as I post on my blog. Leftover pizza that I made yesterday from Jiffy Mix. It's pretty darn tasty if I do say so myself.  Got my weekly free food sack dely an hour ago so I'll probably nuke a tv dinner for supper tonight with a salad on the side.

My set up for puzzles is to have this large white board on my old red sewing table and to have all the pieces on a nearby card table. Works out pretty good as the card table can be twisted around as I want. Unfortunately, though, my trusty old red sewing table is trying real hard to die.  I've packed this desk around for years.

I think I bought it at a yard sale in Bellingham when we were visiting my cousin, Claude Walker. This was probably right around 1966. It was beat up then but perfect for my needs. It had a lamp attached with a long arm but I took that off after a few years. It's been several different colors too.  I wish I had kept it the original wood color the last time I stripped off the paint and decided red was my color of choice. Not sure how that big ole gash got on the top. Probably during my last move.

One of the wheels fell off this morning but I'll keep using this table anyhow. I've used it as a sewing table, a craft table, and a typing table. Right now it's used as a side table for sewing as my machine is on the dining room table in the front room. It's also used for the puzzle board.  I've had to replace the knobs on the drawer as well as the wheels. I think the wheels that are being used now were on this old porta crib I had from 1964. I guess they've lasted a pretty long while.  Poor ole desk. So ugly but so loved.

Well, back to the puzzle I go.
