It was a doctor kind of day

Had a 10 a.m. doctor appt to get my sciatica looked at.  She didn't think it was sciatica because of the movements I could do with my legs without pain.  Thinks it's probably a bruise.  The bruise I got on the right side from falling on my butt has improved but the left side continues to plague me. Whatever it is.  My Amazon order arrived for my sciatica pillow but I wasn't pleased with it as it didn't seem to help. At least not like the child's swim ring was helping.  I sent it back. Meant a trip to the UPS store but I wanted to check out local places for similar products.
This became necessary after my beloved (and cheap) little child's swim ring didn't appreciate holding my butt and went flat.
I couldn't find any other children's rings in the three drug stores I hit so I looked over their adult donut cushions to see how much they were running.  All too expensive. The blow ups were even $20 and the kind already made were $30.  I don't know why everyone has to be so greedy.  I'm still gonna look online and see what I can find.  Meanwhile, I came home and had this piece of foam I thought I might be able to carve up into a pillow I could use.  I tried a saw, a pair of scissors, a box cutter, and a material cutter to see what would work best. None of them worked very well.
Stupid handiwork looked like a mouse had been having dinner on it. And now I have to go out and sweep up the mess I made.  I put a pillowcase on it anyhow and am using it for now.  At least I can sit here a little bit better than I could without it.

The running around wore me out and of course, I missed a nap today. But I'm fine with that. I had a hard time dropping off to sleep last night so I'm betting I'll have an easier time tonight.

I also got an EKG while I was there because I mentioned a little chest pain after having to run to catch a shuttle bus a couple weeks ago.  It was fine.  I got my flu shot, scheduled my mammogram for next week and will get a bone density appt. while there too.

Doctor felt I should probably get my back x-rayed at some point because standing and walking continue to be a problem.  I'll get around to it but I know I do not want surgery on my back.  I did get some blood drawn while there and had an interesting meeting in the reception area before being called in.

A woman behind me (about 40 something and using a cane) was complaining that her appt was for 4 pm and not 10 a.m. and her ride had left and she didn't know what to do.  She continued to rant and complain on the phone to the nurse (in the back).  Apparently, the doctor was annoyed with her and left the room and this patient was going on and on about how she was the worst doctor in the building.  I knew of another woman doctor in that place who I felt was a terrible doctor and figured it had to be her.  But nope, it was MY doctor.  ha ha  Anyhow, I told her if she was still there when I got out, I would take her home.  I was back there for over an hour and a half and she was gone when I got back. Kind of glad.

I went to Safeway and bought $40 worth of groceries, filled up my tank, and came on home to fix lunch.  Then I decided to go out again when I saw the pillow that had arrived.  I'm glad to be home and plan on staying put all weekend.

Last night I watched "Under Arrest" on Netflix.  20-minute episodes of things like COPS. Think it takes place in Vancouver, Canada.  Interesting how terrible people act when they're doped up or drunk.  I could never be a cop. I'd want to slap the hell out of 'em.  One guy was running through the neighborhood naked. They blanked out his front but we all got to see a lot of his butt.  I thought that was kind of cool.  ha ha

Well, nuts!  I guess I'm in my 'slump period' now 'cause I can't quit yawning.  Guess I'd best get up and start moving.
