Friday Morning

I woke up at 3 a.m. and after an hour I ALMOST gave it up and decided to get up and start my day. I knew that was going to screw up my daily activities so I laid there and hoped that Mr. Sandman would return.  He did, bless his heart.  Got up at 6:30 and while I'm dragging a bit, I figure...what else is new?!

I have the news on and I'm wondering why.  Every day it's wretched.  Nasty politics, horrid murders, theft, lurid sexual activities, greed, and of course, tons of ads for drugs you can't afford and probably don't need anyhow.  And let's not forget all the medical advice being thrown at us day and night.  On the plus side, thank God for the remote control with the mute button and channel changer.  Ha!

Last night I was surfing around and discovered more channels available to me on my Smart TV that I had overlooked.  I think I've retyped my channel list at least four times already.  I made up six folders to divide them up. One for channels I watch the most, and others called Favorites 1, Favorites 2, News, Sports, and Music.  The music is limited to just those genres that I like -- classic country, easy listening, oldies, etc.

It's going to take me a while to memorize the channels (I settled on 69 of them) because I can't name them onscreen.  My "hard copy list" has them by Channel name (History, Nat'l Geographic, Hallmark, TCM, etc and then has their channel number after.  Which is complicated as they run from 18.1, 18.2, etc. and skip around  to 19.3, 100.1, 67.8, 115.3 and on and on.  I was irritated with TV an awful lot (still am) but I'm able to find quite a bit to entertain me now.  Last night I signed up for Showtime as I really wanted to see Season 5 of Homeland.  It's has 12 or 13 episodes and IS TERRIFIC!  The subscription will cost me $9 a month after my free week but you can suspend it anytime, just like Netflix.

I decided to look online and see if cartridge ink for my printer would be any cheaper than traveling all the way across town to Walmart.  It was so I ordered one b/w and one color.  Also found two kinds of batting that appeared to be cheaper than Joanne's so I threw that in my cart, as well.  And a magnetic pin cushion.  I also made a trip downtown to Bay Variety and picked up 4 fat quarters and a yard of blue and two yards of red material. (plus some more batting).  Hoping to get my red, white, and blue quilt done this weekend so I can start another.  Bay V. had a jelly roll kit for $9.99 so I bought that too as they make quick and easy quilts.

I stopped by the library when I went to pick up the kids at the high school and checked out half a dozen more audio books.  I don't always listen to them all because you never know if you're going to get a boring one or one that is too scratched up to play that well.  I love having them onhand when I decide to hole up at the sewing machine.

The driveway looks kind of wet this morning so I guess it's been raining during the night. The color of the sky tells me we're in for more of the same but that's okay.  It is February, after all.
