Thursday Morning

Well, it's 8:30 and I've been up for two hours already.  Pretty much have my bag packed so until Maddie finishes her day at school, I'm gonna fool around keeping myself busy with this and that. Hoping to avoid some of the rush hour traffic outside of Tacoma on our way to Renton so we probably won't leave until 5.  Jenni may or may not go this trip. She's gonna wait and see how she feels.

She went to the hospital early yesterday morning to get a cast on and the x-ray showed she had an old break near the recent one.  Doctor said the pain from the first break would have been as bad as the one she just had but she can't recall ever having another foot injury.  At any rate, he felt surgery was necessary. Luckily he had an opening that day and he ended up putting a pin in.  I finally got a call at 4 to come get her. We went to the drugstore to pick up a wheelchair but she also still has a knee scooter to help her navigate.  She was really tired out when I dropped her off at 5:30. (we had to go get Maddie at the high school so that took longer)

I wouldn't be surprised if her pain is worse today and she opts to stay home.  Maddie will still accompany me so at least I'll have someone to help me navigate the dreaded freeway.

I finished another wall hanging yesterday but it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped.  Gonna take it to Renton with me so Ann R. can maybe give me some sewing tips on what I'm doing wrong.

Here's some pictures I took, some I saw in the Leader, and some I saw in Google Images.

This is the mountain view as I climbed the hill up to the high school to pick up Maddie.

This was a postcard that April Fool had for sale at one time of Water Street
This is the view coming down the hill from the high school. That's Canada across the way

This is a shot of the old deserted Lincoln School in PT.  Love this building!

It's been a sad week for me so far.  I learned of the passing of a dear friend I had in Kirkland from 1968 to 1973.  We were the same age (born six days apart) and we lived in the same neighborhood. She had three young daughters at the time and I had two.  We seldom saw each other the past 43 years but I always missed her.  RIP Shirley Aragon.

Well, I guess I'd better get up and start moving.  Posted on my blog at the Leader website yesterday.  www.ptleader.com    Click on blogs at the top and scroll to Town Kid.  Article is titled Uncle Arthur.
