Friday Evening

I haven't blogged all week. Just haven't felt up to it. And all I had to offer anyhow, was which body part was hurting.  Yesterday and today it's my back.  It must be "out". That's the only thing I can think of, although I don't actually know what having your back going out entails.  I put in an hour of weeding yesterday (even sat down on a stool to do it) but that must have aggravated something because by late afternoon my hip and low back were killing me!  I downed some ibuprofen, put on ice, and even slathered on some aspercreme I found in the bathroom.  Went to bed moaning but was confident I'd be good as rain the next morning.  Nope.  What a disappointment.  I was kind of counting on putting this business behind me.

On the plus side, my shoulder wasn't troubling me like it has been for weeks.  Discomfort is still there but it wasn't getting top prize for the worst area.  I guess your body does that -- when one part hurts, the other parts have to wait their turn.  I decided I would just lay low all day and take it easy.  I occupied myself online (something I love doing anyhow) and I thought maybe I had shook the nastiness off.  Ha!  Big joke on me.  Once I got up and started supper and doing dishes, etc. I realized I was not quite winning this battle.

I plan on sleeping on a firm mattress tonight just to see if that makes a difference.  I continue to go back and forth, back and forth with this firm mattress, then soft foam.  I think I sleep better on the foam sometimes yet I can't help but think maybe I'm not helping things any.  At any rate, I'm hoping tomorrow will be better.  And do or die, I'm gonna do my exercises.  I know those are helpful. Well, I don't actually "know" any such thing but I've been told that's the key so okay...I'll do the damn things!

Physical therapy people called and I go in there on May 26th. Only for a couple weeks. Need to get a refresher course to see if I'm doing the shoulder exercises correctly.  Took my car in for an oil change yesterday.  That was boring.  Waiting room was full of old people (like me) only they wanted to yak, yak, yak!  They were all busy outdoing each other on things they've done, where they've traveled, what they own, etc.  One lady even brought out a picture to share with the whole room of this large boat her and her husband have lived on.  I wasn't feeling chipper so I found it all very irritating. Yeah, I'm a crab apple. No doubt about it.

Tonight at 9 I have to drive across town and pick Maddie up at her job at Traylor's restaurant where she busses tables. Jen and Wayne are going out of town for a mini vacation in Federal Way.  Tomorrow morning I'll take Maddie up to the high school for a track meet and then pick her up again later that afternoon.  Hunter will probably cut my lawn tomorrow since I haven't seen him yet this week.  Weatherman says rain but I'm hoping he doesn't mean us.  Catie and Brandon are visiting me next weekend. I'm already making a to-do list for her.  Just little stuff.  Questions I have about my cellphone and computer. You have to take advantage of these techy people when you can get your hands on them.

I've been watching a lot of British shows on Amazon prime.  Lark Rise to Candleford, Cranford, and The Duchess of Duke Street, among others.  Trying to avoid news shows.  I just get too worked up with all the crap going on everywhere.  And I've seen enough and heard enough about that stupid Ass Trump to last a lifetime. Unfortunately, win or lose (and heaven help us if he wins) we're going to have to listen to him for the rest of our natural lives.  The media will see to that.  And I'll use my mute button with a passion!

Next Tuesday night I plan on driving across town to the Mormon church to see if I can get some tips on searching their files.  I'm not getting any closer on finding my Charlie.  I may skip over to another part of my family tree and work on other names.  Maybe the Holts. (my dad's mother's family)
I decided to start cleaning up my files on individual people and moved forward in time to work on relatives closer to my own era.  Started with my dad and realized I had a lot of sorting of pictures and files that needed arranging.  I couldn't find his newspaper obit anywhere and then discovered I had cut it out and stuck it in a three ring binder notebook.  I scanned it in as I wanted everything on the computer for safekeeping.  That type of clean-up will keep me busy for ages.

Two more "nice people" photos:
Kids in Canada tied coats to street poles to help homeless people for winter

guy takes his dog for walk every day because he can’t walk anymore

Two pictures I saw online of old Port Townsend.  One was in the Leader, I think.

                                                                  Washington Street

Here's a picture I took as I passed through Sequim the other day. I was in my old neighborhood.

And here's a picture of Tom Moss. Heard the sad news that he passed away yesterday.  Makes me very sad. I always got a kick out of Tom.  Here he is at our 50th alumni reunion in 2011. Pictured with Dave Marriott.

Well, I guess that does it for now.  Hope your weekend moves along smoothly.
