Memorial Weekend Sunday

I've just been kinda dingin' around here all day long.  Can't get much steam worked up but I'm still managing to get a thing or two accomplished.  I guess.  Decided I wanted to start painting some of the rocks I picked up at the beach a few days ago.  At least the first layer.  I downloaded 57 pictures on Pinterest to give me some idea of how to proceed. I'm not that good at crafts but I can still copy other peoples ideas to a certain degree.  It's just amazing the stuff people can think up.

I've been wanting to try to make some greeting cards with material but the videos I watched on Youtube were all pretty much complicated with supplies you had to buy such as card stock, stamps, etc. I just wanted to paste some material on a card and see what it looked like.  I'll have to play around with it some more to see what works. I used Elmer's glue and I suspect I need to switch to Aleene's tacky glue.

Looks a little lame but I'll do better with the next one.  Cards are so expensive to buy anymore (and to mail) I'd just as soon make my own lame card and let it go at that.

I came across an old rock collection of mine while rummaging around in the garage. I used to ask people to bring me a rock from their travels.  I've got one from New Zealand, Mexico, Paris, Cape Cod, Tokyo, Shanghai, Alaska, San Francisco, London, Scotland, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket, and Bainbridge Island. hee hee  Pretty cool, huh? I'm going to display them in the living room for a while. Something different.

Yesterday I was browsing online looking for old pictures of Oregon.  One of my great uncles operated hotels in a few towns and I wanted to see if I could find them. I did too.
                                                      Cottage Grove Hotel
                                                           Geiser Grand in Baker
                                                                   Medford Hotel
                                                            Smeede Hotel in Eugene

I also found a couple pictures of workers in the hops fields. My grandparents used to do this and follow the crop as it came into season.

My sister asked me to post some of her bags that she's selling for $15. Pictures below:

My sister, Janie, lives on a limited income so she tries to supplement the budget with her sewing skills. Here are three of her handy cloth bags. They’re very study, made with upholstery material. She’s made me several of these through the years and I use them all the time.  Sometimes they’re my ‘purse’. Other times I cart library books home in them, collect rocks at the beach, take yard sale shopping, carry my camera and phone, and they always go to the grocery store with me. Message me if you’re interested as she’s not online.  She lives in Port Townsend so you can pick up there or she’ll mail if you’re out of town. And thank you! Two of them are $15 and the third is $20.
Purse 1 has a long over-the-shoulder handle with 2 pockets inside and 2 outside. Purse 2 is lined with 2 pockets inside and one outside.

Here's a picture of my brother, Les' grandson, Brend'n. He goes to Chimacum High.
And here's the latest on my grandson, Jacob, working on his car.
Got the nicest surprise yesterday.  My daughter, Mary, bought me a room at Harborside Motel in Port Townsend on June 10th.  She knew I wanted to attend this party that night but was thinking of skipping it because I didn't want to drive to PT two nights in a row and the next afternoon is the alumni social hour at the Elks Club --- an event I always try to make if I can.  I was so excited.  Mary Gaboury was planning on driving over from Bonney Lake to attend the Elks club get together too so now we can both attend the Friday house party.  Should be a good time. I've gone there a couple times previously and had a ball.  Here's a picture from the last time we were there.
Maggie the dog went home this morning.  She was so happy to see Kathy.  Tomorrow I'm going to play around the house on more projects and Tuesday I drive to Sequim and then Port Townsend.
Gotta remember to hang my flag tomorrow too.  It's a new one.
