Shopping & Back Home Again

Woke up achy from head to toe this morning so think I'm gonna put the foam mattress back on my bed.  It's what I do.  Staggered out to the living room to open curtains, boot up the computer, turn on the coffee and make Maggie go outside to pee.  She resists every single day.  I showered and after looking at my shaggy appearance, I decided a haircut was in line for today.

Fixed a bowl of yogurt and English muffin for breakfast, read the Leader online, and made a list of what I wanted to pick up at Walmart.  Stopped at the Dollar Tree first and was disgusted with the lack of customer service.  Four registers and ZERO clerks.  Zero!  I was third in line and pretty soon three people were standing behind me. Still no clerks.  I almost started yelling but saw a bell by the register and went up to pound on it half a dozen times.  Still no one came.  Ridiculous.  Four of the people in line (and I consider me in that catergory) were seniors with just a few items and it probably took some doing for them to even get to the store.  I was not a happy shopper.  What is the matter with people these days?  Two finally came and neither one said a word about "sorry for the wait." Not a word!  Grrrrr......  And shame on me for not speaking up!

Anyhow, I left there and headed across the street to Walmart. Picked up a prescription for Jenni, some treats for Maggie, a sack of fiberfill to make a pillow, and some craft supplies.  I've got a list of crafts I want to play around with -- painted rocks, sticks and stones pictures, button pictures, water color painting, sewing projects, and I want to try to make some greeting cards using material and buttons and rickrack, etc.  I've got a card table set up in the kitchen with various supplies of paint, brushes, glues, etc.  Fun time.  Keeps me off the streets.  Ha!

Eventually, I'm going to get back to the sewing room to play around in there too.  I miss it. For now, though, I've still got genealogy notes to research and put in order.  I never seem to be a loss for some hobby or another to occupy my time.  Nothing on my agenda for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.  Mary and Andy opted to come over later in the summer for yard and maintenance work. Good idea in my opinion. As they need to rest up from just getting back from NY.

I'm driving into PT on May 31 (taking Janie home from a doctor appt in Sequim) and then driving to Mary's on June 2nd, coming back home the afternoon of June 3rd.  Then on June 4 it's back to PT again for a wedding reception and I'll stay overnight that night so we can go to breakfast on Sunday. I'm probably repeating myself.

Took Maggie out for a short walk a couple days ago and took pictures of the now vacant lot and the back of my house as seen from the alley.
Hard to believe these two lots were covered with 8' high bushes of scotch broom.
My place is the second one in with the slanted roof.
Boulders that were placed on the lots to keep kids from racing through there at night.

Here's a picture of Catie and Brandon visiting Marymere waterfalls near Lake Crescent.
And below is a picture of Catie holding a quilt her Aunt Lill made her. Lill's gonna enter it in this quilt show.  It's really something to see in person.

Jenni decided she didn't want these old decoupage wood pics I had given her back in the 70s so I took them back. Not sure what I'm going to do with them, though.  Stick them away in a box of collectables I guess.  Man, were John and I ever that young looking?
Maddie's going to a prom on June 4th with a Sequim boy. Their prom is being held at some fancy boat place in Bremerton. Another boy she met (via track meets) invited her to a prom in Seattle next month. At the Columbia Bldg downtown. Not sure how she intends to get there but I'm sure she'll think of something.

Well, guess I'll go look for the hand lotion now. My hands feel like sandpaper these days and I always forget to keep them moisturized.  Feeling like a nap might be coming on too.

Here's a cute cartoon I saw on Facebook today.
