I wonder why I do this

I spent pretty much all day on the computer again. I've been throwing on the steam to finish this family tree project while my subscription to ancestry is still running, It expires on Tuesday and I must admit, I'm glad.  I've been sorting through all my files on my dad's side of the family. Both of his parents.  I'll keep all the notes and such on my hard drive, of course, but I wanted to print out an edited version to put in a 3-ring binder for easy reference.

I finished up this afternoon but I may go back and tweek it some more here and there. Am also playing with the idea of inserting photos.  That always makes it more fun to read.  Attaching pictures to an already finished report, though, can be tedious and I'm not that good at it.  I could just make a photo album of sorts for the back of the book and insert various people on those pages, cropping them to make them fit.  It's still a big task, though, I'll have to think about it.

My plan (once I get everything the way I want it) is to convert the whole document to a pdf format and send it down to Pacific Office Equipment for printing.  I can't find my notes on what price I was quoted per page but I know it will save me a lot of headaches to have them print it out. My printer is hit and miss, especially if I want to do some photos.  Not to mention the ink it would use up.  Irritates me that ink cartridges are so expensive.

At some point I may edit  the notes for my mother's side of the family too. that includes her biological family and her adoptive family. Not near as interesting to me since I never really knew any of the people involved.  I met one of her brothers before he died and I met a biological cousin but that's about the extent of it.

I had planned on working up the tree including all my cousins but perhaps I'll make that another project. It would mostly just be names and dates with pictures inserted.  The one I completed today is 45 pages, and I'm worn out.  Need to put it behind me and turn to another hobby.  Like sewing and painting.  My, don't I sound like the all talented one here. Ha!  I know the truth, though.  My talent for sewing and painting is very limited and I'm aware of it.

I took a nap yesterday afternoon but avoided it today as I want to sleep.  I had a touch of insomnia last night and just when I was dropping off, this dang dog in the alley was let out and he barked for an hour.  I was furious!  If it happens again, I may just get in my car and go find out where he lives.  It woke up my neighbor too and she thinks we ought to report it if it continues.

Before I sat down at the computer, I went outside to weed the pots on the deck, replenish the hummingbird feeder, water plants and trees, and fill the bird baths.  I looked over the horsetail weeds out front that I squirted with my homemade weed killer of vinegar, salt, and dish soap.  I think it's working as I saw a lot of brown among the green stuff.  Not to get out there and yank it out.  That's the hard part for me but maybe if I do just a little bit everyday.  We'll see.

Watched a movie on Netflix last night that only had two stars but it held my interest and man, was I surprised at the ending.  I was thinking it was  a physiological drama about this guy being depressed over the death of his son years before but it ended up being something completely different.  Shocking really.  Called 'The Invitation.'

I stuck a cornish game hen in the oven for dinner but didn't get around to it until 5 o'clock so I guess I'm gonna have a late dinner.  But then 7 or so isn't really that late.  Am having raw vegetables and dip with it so I don't really have much preparation to mess with.  Maybe I'll make some popcorn tonight. I bought a new little microwave popper that just make enough for one person and I'm anxious to see how it works.
Saw a picture on Facebook of Jake enjoying "driving the boat" at Lake Cushman.  Someday I'm going to have to go up there and see what it looks like.  If someone else will drive, that is.

I did find a couple pictures on ancestry that weren't there the last time I had a subscription.  This is Norman Skaggs at Corvallis High school.  His mom was the sister of my grandma, Viola Mae Holt.
Another picture was James Downs, who I think was an uncle of my grandmother, Jane Downs.
As I sit here looking out the sliding glass door, I'm thinking perhaps my plums might be ready for picking. Gonna' go out there and pinch a couple.
As much as I enjoy seeing photos people post on Facebook, I sure do get weary of the filthy language some of my "friends" use to make a point.  I'm no prude and there have been plenty of times I probably needed my mouth cleaned out with soap but gees...some folks just can't seem to express themselves without using that overused word that starts with F!
