Just finished a short walk down the alley and back. Have to work myself up to longer outings; especially now when I'm so out of breath because of allergy-related chest congestion. Would probably help some if I could tolerate sleeping more upright. Morning wake ups are dreadful what with the stuffed up nose and head, dry mouth, drool residue down the chin, and raspy cough. I'm just a mess.
Walking has become a real challenge for me these days, and it only seems to be getting worse. I am finding that using two walking sticks does allow me to stay out there longer but I've got a ways to go. Little steps. After I got home, I got on my new little exercise bike. I've always liked bike riding but since my fall, and problems with knees and shoulders, I've become nervous about going out alone. I wasn't using my bike exerciser because it was too hard to get up on so I bought this on Amazon Prime.
I knew I had to use something I would actually enjoy and much to my surprise, this little gadget is doing the trick. I experimented with where to place it and what chair to use. I'm happy with this spot right in front of the television and the chair has good back support. The peddlar can be moved closer to the chair so my knees have to work harder and the tension can be tightened, as well. You can also place it on a table for use on your arms and shoulders. I always stayed outside bike riding way longer than I ever did walking. I guess because the weight bearing exercises were harder for me. No big surprise there! Ha!
Not much going on around here outside of the usual hobbies I keep myself busy with. Continuing to work on my family tree project. Took these two pictures yesterday from my chair here in the office.
Reminded me to not go walking over in that vacant lot again. Not that I would. Last time I tried to venture in a ways to dump some weeds, I almost fell over. Just can't balance on one leg for any length of time anymore. I never was good at it in the first place.
At any rate, this cat knew something was about in there as she stood around for a good 15 minutes.
Had to set the timer on my stove so I wouldn't forget to go pick up Maddie at 11 a.m. at the high school gym. Trying to remember little tasks can be a challenge once I get involved in some other interest. Even notes I write myself can go unnoticed.
Well, gonna cut this short. The little walk I took down the alley this morning was supposed to make me feel better but right now, it's not working all that well. Got a sinus headache, annoying cough, and blurry eyes. They might as well take me out and shoot me. Sigh....
Do intend to work on a quick Leader blog, though.
