Well, here it is, early Saturday morning. I was feeling better yesterday and thought things were picking up but by the afternoon, the slight nausea returned and the fatigue. Must be allergies. It's a dang nuisance, that's for sure. I intend to take a sinus pill daily to see if I can nip it in the bud. Went to bed at 9 p.m. for the second night in a row but last night I couldn't drop off so turned the light on to try and get interested in this book. Didn't take long and I was drowsy again so I started over. Fitful dreams so I got up at 6:30 to begin my day.
Looking kinda gray outside my window and I wonder if it's gonna rain. Just got a FB message from my neighbor who is going crabbing today. Promised me a crab so I'll be playing with that later. Ironically, I made up 7 salads yesterday and sealed them in individual Tupperware bowls. They were a tad boring but crab will perk them up nicely. I've found that my salad ingredients will last a little longer in the fridge if I make separate salads ahead of time. Also encourages me to have one for dinner as I often don't feel like stopping to make a salad.
I'm watching a movie on Amazon Prime called 'The Age of Adeline'. Has Harrison Ford in it although he's not the star. Maddie told me about it and kept encouraging me to watch it as it made quite the impression on her. And I must admit, it was very good.
Just took a break from writing to get up and sweep the kitchen. Next will be vacuuming the house. I've found that I have more success at finishing chores if I take breaks in between. My back "acts up" much quicker than ever these days. I'm thinking of trying to do my exercises from the back book on the floor like I used to do them. I'm hesitant because getting down and back up again is tricky and I'm not entirely sure I want to put myself through that. We'll see.... My feet have been trying to get into the act lately too. I find myself changing from one pair to another several times a day. Right now I've settled on this old sandal type that I forgot I had stored away. They're pretty comfortable but won't do if I decide to go walking. And yes, that's on my list as well. It's always on my list. Getting out the door and down the street is another issue but I keep on truckin'. Surely having two walking sticks now will make the going a little easier. Or at least managable.
Talked to my brother, Les, on the phone yesterday. He turns 69 on the 4th of July. Told me he's mowing lawns to make money on the side from his social security. Does the Catholic Church and their cemetery as well as a couple of others. He said he was really huffing and puffing when he started but is sailing along much easier now.
Today I plan on working on sorting photos on my computer -- yet again! Seems like they just take over sometimes. But it's a chore I enjoy. I wrote a Town Kid blog for the Leader website last night. Called '17 Cousins'. At some point, I'll be working on my genealogy files too. I was surprised yesterday as I browsed the 1940 census for Port Townsend that all the nuns at St. John's Hospital were Canadians. There were about ten old folks being cared for at the time of this census. I suppose that was our "nursing homes" then. They were born in several different states and were mostly in their 70s and 80s.
Mary and Andy are back from their Vegas vacation now. I imagine Jake is happy to be out riding his bike and sleeping in his own bed. Or perhaps sleeping with mom and dad as I know he likes it there too. Most kids do. I enjoyed seeing the pictures Mary posted on facebook or sent me via email. Let me experience being there with them. Here he is eyeing a showgirl. hee hee
Jenni continues to have problems with her MS flaring up. So worrisome. She has double vision all day now and has to wear a patch to help with the dizziness she experiences from it. The fatigue is wearing on her too as is the depression at not being able to get anything done or go anywhere. I wish there was more I could do but unlike her mother, she doesn't share her health issues with me when she's suffering. She'll see her doctor in a week and he'll probably refer her to an ophthalmologist. Another wait to get an appointment, I suppose. And I wonder, even then, what can be done. Hopefully, something!
Here are a couple more pictures I received in an email from Les Walden a while back.
And here's some pictures of Hunter and the pickup truck he's been working on for months. It's coming along really nice. He bought this old brown truck when he was ?maybe 14. It wasn't running so it was towed to his house. Then he went to work on it. Got it running and then worked on it some more. Eventually had it hauled to the high school so he could work on the body in auto shop. Now it's home again, a pretty purple color so he can put it back together. He turns 16 in two weeks. Even Maddie is impressed with how pretty it is. Says she hopes he'll let her ride in it as she'd be proud to be seen in it. Ha!
