To the Ferry and back

When I fell into bed last night, I was tired to the bone. Hadn't had a nap (seems like the phone usually rings once I decide to nap) so I figured I was going to get a good nights sleep. Nope.  I think I spent too much time on the computer during the day and that can affect my sleep if I'm still involved in what I was working on.  Then too, I finished watching Marcella, the British Netflix series I had to see who the killer was.  That was a horrible sentence but I'm not fixing it.  Ha!

Anyhow, I discovered that insomnia was going to get in the game and at midnight I was still tossing and turning.  I know I slept some as I had some goofy dreams (they're always goofy) but when the alarm went off at 6, I wasn't that enthused about getting up.  Picked up Jenni at 7 and we were off.
Stopped at Long House by the casino to get a maple bar and it was pretty much smooth sailing to the ferry.

I stopped at Clearwater Casino for one hour on the way home as I felt this need to donate money. Which I did. As I got close to the bridge, I began to see brake lights and hoped and prayed it wasn't what I thought it was.  Sigh....one half hour sitting there and my phone wouldn't work so I couldn't even go on Facebook or read my email.  Stupid submarine. Had a couple of Navy ship escorts with it.

Traffic was heavy the rest of the way into Port Angeles. Stopped at Safeway and spent $26 and then drove into my garage and collected my mail. Two pieces of junk that went straight to recycle.  Most of my mail goes there.

Mary's nanny called in sick (false labor pains -- she's due next month) so Mary got to spend the day with Jake.  Which worked out fine because Microsoft had laid off a bunch of people and Mary's consulting job there went by the wayside.  She has two other jobs she's working on, though, so no big deal.  She decided to drive to Swedish Hospital to keep Jenni company while she gets her infusion treatment for MS.  Shot me over a picture of Jenni and Jake watching cartoons.
At 5, I have to pick up Maddie and take her to work so I think I'll wait to post this blog until then as Jenni says Hunter has his truck running and I want to get a picture.

One sad note...my friend, Linda Pedersen, lost her younger brother, Jim, yesterday. He was class of 1971.
I spent a little more time on my family tree project yesterday and I realized I still had quite a bit of editing to do.  I decided to type up my grandpa and grandma's obits so I'd have them online. I have several family obits in a 3-ring binder but some I wanted to be able to share or access via the computer.  I came across a handwritten note a great aunt wrote when she was on her deathbed.  This aunt (Lillie) was married to my grandpa's brother, John and I've been able to accumulate quite a bit on her family.  Her grandson, John, lives in Olympia but I haven't met him yet although we're Facebook friends.  Here's what I transcribed of what Lillie wrote....

Parents: Jacob and Mary Thomason
Born near Pawnee, Ill, Aug 3, 1878
Married Joh A. Blankenship Aug 29, 1897 at Independence, Ore
Came to Oregon in 1892, lived most of my life in Oregon, a short time in Goldendale, Wash.
Children are Juanita Sachmidli, San Francisco, Cal
Hallie, deceased
Mrs. Cecile Stone, Harrisburg, Ore
Ivan
John E. Blankenship, Shedd
Member of First Baptist Church of Eugene. If I am in Eugene when I pass away send me to Murnard England Mortuary, Dr. Vance Webster to preach funeral sermon. If near Shedd, send to Fisher Funeral Home. Funeral to be in Shedd Methodist Church where I worked in church and taught SS class many years, with Rev. A.J. Newfeld officiating . Topic of sermon: Gods great love
Songs: Beyond the Sunset and Sunrise

Bury me in green silk dress. Rev Newfield lives at 1190 West 12, Eugene

Give Margaret all my clothes and send my diamond ring to Nita

I'm going to have to research Juanita Sachmidli because I have her name spelled as Schmidli. Maybe Lillie didn't know the correct spelling or maybe the census records are wrong. Something else to work on.  I have to remember to study all these obits I have on file as they're full of clues. Sometimes the clues are incorrect because families just plain remember things wrong when they're writing up about their relatives but still.... it's worth looking into.

More later. Back from errands now.  Dressed up in purple to pose by Hunter's truck and got a few others while I was there too.
