Was happy to see overcast and fog plus cooler temps this morning. Looks like we're still in for high 80s as the week progresses but oh well, it is August, after all. I'll deal with it.
Not too much on my Sunday calendar. Think I'll head to the sewing room early and see what kind of mischief I can get into there. Also plan on pulling out the paintbrushes and colored pencils to work on my artistic non-existent talent that is hiding somewhere deep inside me.
I tune in to watch the Olympics off and on. Mostly they're boring as swimming and volleyball and other things I'm not that keen are seem to take up the most air time. And the people covering the events are less than interesting too with stupid questions like "is winning the gold all that you thought it would be?" Puh leezeeee! Get original. And then there's those experts who sit and criticize every single diver every single time. Poor coverage.
I've been watching movies on HBO now. A channel I'm getting for free for a month and will then decide whether or not I want to pay $15 a month. At first I thought I would sign on but I don't think so. A whole lot of their programming is aimed at younger people with no taste. ha ha I really don't are to watch ghouls and ghosts and dragons and killers and sexpots. Sigh....
Last night I watched a movie called Brooklyn. About this Irish girl who comes to NY, falls in love, and then has to decide whether or not to go back to Ireland to be with her mother. Good show. And it got a lot of academy nominations. The night before that I watched an oldie from 1989 called Road House. Can't believe I sat through the whole thing as it as TOTALLY aimed at the sophomore mind. Hmmm...I guess that tells me something. Ha ha
Anyhow, it was Patrick Swayze as the hero and Ben Gazzara as the bad guy. And, oh...Sam Elliott, the rebel biker friend of Patrick's. Always love watching ole Sam, but how long can you sit through knife wounds, blood gushing, buildings being blown up, fist fights in bars? Well, about two hours I guess because I watched it all. Another movie I watched last night (after Brooklyn) was Runaway Train with Jon Voight. Always love to watch him act too. He's been a favorite of mine since Midnight Cowboy.
Saturday, John O'Brien stopped in so I fed him lunch. He was in Sequim visiting his sister, Mary, and wanted to go out to lunch but I didn't want to contend with the heat so suggested we eat in. Tomorrow if it's not too hot, I'll shampoo certain carpet areas that need a touch up. Also have to get Hunter or Wayne over here to fix a living room window. I'd forgotten that it's broken when you try to open it and now I can't get it closed all the way. Something with the metal thingie on the window slider. I had problems with it a year or two back and gave myself a mental reminder to never open it. And then, of course, I forgot.
A friend came by and gave me a zucchini so I plan on making some bread one day this week. All depends on the temperature gauge. Saw a picture on facebook of my stepsister, Shannon, with her womens group that are traveling. Here she is on the right.
Some "cute" things I saved from Facebook are these....
Spent a little time cleaning out photo files on my hard drive yesterday. The key is to stay on top of it before it gets out of hand. I'm going to go back to that job now as I have "people pictures" to label and put in certain folders so I can find them later. All fun stuff.
Granddaughter Maddie dropped by a few days ago to tell me she was promoted from busser at Traylor's Restaurant to waitress. She was so excited as you make better tips when you're a waitress.
Well, I guess that's all I got today.
